3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours dark brown with a monstrous, thick beige cream head. Aroma holds that classic, gritty Brodies stuff, dark roast, heavy pine, burnt bread. Light to medium sweet, has some nice, mellow chocolate notes, lots of bitter, charred malts, bitter earth, toasted grass and pine. Medium bodied and chewy with huge, explosive carbonation in the mouth. The finish has restrained bitterness of burnt wood, earth, burnt grass and pine, light tanginess to the dark malts, some moderate roast. A decent beer, though not super.

[500ml bottle, courtesy of cgarvieuk] Black, faint ruby. Tan lacing. Sweet candied peanut aroma. Bit of liquorice on the finish? Oatmeal from the stout – chocolate in there too. I can definitely see the influences of each brewery here

In bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a fair light tan head. A lovely hoppy pine aroma before roasty malt, oatmeal, caramel and Weetabix. Similar flavours with mild carbonation, light CO2 prickle and a foamy mouth-feel. Lovely. Nicely bitter also.
