Bottle. It pours a black body, next to black as the original sin, topped by a dense, finger-thick light tan head. The aroma has quite a lot of licorice, with alcohol, dark coffee, mocha, molasses hints and some berry kind of hints. Licorice, molasses, coffee and berry hints in the flavor, some alcohol warmth and bitterness. Full body with some warmth. Lasting finish. Perhaps a bit one dimensional, but it’s a fine brew anyway. 141228

Massive thanks to richthevillan for this gem, cheers Rich. Christmas day beer 5. Bottle BBD 04-13, so expecting this to be at its peak. Black beer with large tan head that reduces to a small head with patchy lacing. Aroma of licorice, dark malts, coffee and some hoppiness. Taste is coffee, licorice, dark fruits, hops and a little chocolate. Medium bodied and light carbonation. Excellent beer.

At a tasting, many thanks DSG, zvikar and Ariel, very dark brown colour, small creamy head, aroma of dark bread, some charred wood and mushrooms, flavour of dark fruits, dark sour bread, some woodiness and coffee, quite strong sourness. Good and highly enjoyable.

Thanks to klimaet. Bottle. Pours black with a big, brown head. Aroma is very roasted, and got much of the oatmeal stout characters. Slight bitter berries and a little bit of smoke. Taste is very bitter and burned. Lots of almost salmiak-like licorice. Cranberries offer a little fruityness, but it’s still a pretty one sided beer. Still quite delicious!

Bottle shared with Vestergaard. Ma homeboy. Pours pitch black with a brownish head. Aromas of roasted liqorice, coffee and some sweet fruits. Dark chocolate. Bittersweet flavour, very roasted and slight fruitiness. Could have been stronger for my taste. Bitter and roasted finish. Very nice.
