Scopey (3243) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 20, 2012
Cask at Cross Keys, Covent Garden. It pours clear brown with a medium off-white head. The nose is wood, grass, hay, caramel, dark fruit, varnish, touch of barnyard. The taste is wood, varnish, light astringency, nice bitterness, nut, hint of caramel, leaf, grass and hay with a dry, woody finish. Med body and soft carbonation. Good flavour and well balanced. A tasty hoppy session bitter.

Cask @ The Old Coffee House. Chestnut brown color with a modest white head. The nose is malty caramel, brown sugar sweetness, dark fruits, blackberry. The taste is sweet, more brown sugar and classic crystal malt flavor, long lightly-dry finish. Pretty robust body for a bitter, subtle carbonation. Overall, this was actually a very flavorful bitter served in excellent condition. Respect to the Coffee House for keeping a nice pint despite slightly dingy surroundings.

(Cask at Cross Keys, Covent Garden, London, 24 July 2011) Dark amber colour with foamy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with orange peel, toasty malt and earthy hops. Malty, slightly fruity taste with notes of toasty malt, dried fruit and a generous earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Tasty and highly drinkable bitter. Nice one.
