4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask at William IV during Brodies Birthday Bash 2011. Pours black-brown with a white, foamy head. Lovely nose, rich pine, grapefruit, orange. Sweet, juicy flavor with restrained roastiness, plenty of resinous bitterness, some grass and orange juice. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Somewhat salty. Nice finish, oily pine, dark malts, subtle roast, citrusy sweetness, too. Excellent beer. Way to go, Brodies!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
Cask conditioned handpump Old Fountain London. A near black beer with a white bubbly head. Very good hops in this with minimal roast from the dark malts. Nothing sweet about this at all. Tons and tons of citric fruits; mostly grapefruit. Really really lovely. A near perfect BIPA.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ Mikkeller Bar. Fairly deep black appearance with a light brown head. Fairly roasty malty, chocolate, a bit floral/piney hoppy aroma. Somewhat citrusy, roasty malty, chocolate, light coffee flavor. Pretty decent Black IPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask Chocolate brown beer, with B.C."H.". Ureum-rich, fruity hops, exotic fruitaromas. Chocolate malt, hops reduced to blending in and lend a bit of fruityness; melanoidins and a bitter, dry finish. Medium bodied at best, but quite slick, especially backthroat. Good, if unspectacular, well-hopped brown ale.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Keg, as Black IPA, half-pint, in a very relaxing atmosphere sitting by the open fire place at the excellent King William IV in Leyton. Deep black body topped by a decent, creamy tan-coloured head. Solid artwork to the glass. Semi-tart berries and aniseed fruits to the nose. Flavoured with citrus fruits mixed with malty hints of liquorice, grain and chocolate. Rather too much of bitter tartness towards the ending. Good without being outstanding (Greater London, 24.11.2012).

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at The Cock Tavern, Hackney, Saturday 1st March 2013 This was another winner for me from Brodies, this and the raspberry beer were both truly excellent.Pours black but not so black you could see it peeling away to brown at the edges. This was just a cracking IPA, clean, refreshing, crisp with plenty of citrus zipping through and a little layer of roastiness that really added to this, bitter, clean fruity, but so, so easy to drink for the abv, in fact I can hardly believe its 7.4% Great beer! Cask @ ACBF 2012, Moen.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Cask at Old Fountain, Old Street, London, 27 Apr 2013) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, fruity, hoppy nose with coffee, chocolate, caramel, pine needles and hints of tropical fruit. Malty, fruity taste with notes of caramel, coffee, chocolate, pine needles, grapefruit, resin, raisins and a generous resinous/piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Surprisingly well balanced and drinkable. Very nice.
