From cask @ ACBF 2012. Pours dark, no head, nose is all c hops, grapefruit, lemons, ... Not much in the aroma relating to a dark ale. But it’s all good...

Tap take over at Mikkeller Bar. Dark brown with a small white head. Fruity aroma with bright and clean citrus along with a touch of licorice. Citrus and licorice also dominate the flavour, with a faint hard roasted finish

Dalston Black IPA. Cask at King Willliam IV, Leyton. A durian fruit aroma! Really. The flavour is medium bitter, with fruit, liqourice and spicy notes on the palate. A superb ale.

Cask @ The Old Coffee Shop. The pour’s a deep brownish black color with a bubbly tan head. The aroma is charred wood, mild biscuit. Bitter chocolate and ash. The taste is woody hops, spruce. Unwashed bitter roots. Earthy hop flavors. Hints of melon rind. Supporting roasted malt body. Aggressive bitter profile. Still, this is quite drinkable and pleasant. Medium body, fine carbonation. Overall, a pretty good effort!

Tons of citrus on the nose with peach, lemon zest, fairy liquid and papaya. Pours a deep ruby with a firm, fluffy head. Flavour is true to what is fast becoming my new favourite style - an excellent balance of deep, roasted malts and zesty, spicy hops. Pasionfruit, charcoal and burnt orange peel. Finish is very dry and very bitter and very pleasant. Very nice.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Pours dark brown, almost black with a large foamy head. Aroma of roasty malts, exotic fruits and hints of citrus. Taste is smooth, and quite a nice mix of roastiness and exotic fruitness with a touch of salty licorice and grassy hops. Finish is dry and fruity with lots of roastiness and salty licorice. Quite nice, although a tad too salty and roasty black IPA.
