Cask (William IV, Leyton, Brodies Christmas Cracker 2009)
Flat, dark read. Lactic cottage cheese aroma, but loads of christmas spices too. Decent rich roasty corners. Not at its peak, but pleasant sweet sticky beer.

From cask at the brewpub. Pour dark brown to black with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild roasted and vague spiced. Mild fruity, to light citrusy/orange. Toasted to roasted malt, sweet and slight bitter. Bitter and mild fruity dark finish.

Cask (handpump) @ King William IV, 816 High Road, Leyton, London, England E10 6AE.

Clear medium red brown color with a average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, spices, prune, date, tobacco, sweet wood. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, spicy and discordant. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20091231]

Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, December 2009. Quite dark copper colour. Fruity malt is the main feature. Some fruit cake too. Slightly sweet with a sour edge on the finish. Didn’t really pick up much in the way of "ho ho ho" (spices?) and not so much "hoppy" either. Still a quite tasty strong bitter. (6/3/6/3/13 = 3.1).
RE-RATE. Cask (handpump) at Brodies Christmas Cracker, William IV, Leyton, 19 December 2009. Dark brown/red. Did pick up some slight spice this time. Also a hint of diacetyl unfortunately. A little herbal. OK but I have a feeling I have not yet found this in peak condition. (6/3/6/3/12 = 3.0)
Original score retained.

Gravity cask at Pigs Ear 2008. Malty, chewy, on the sweet side, but there is a slightly dry/sour finish. A little yeast. Not wholly successful.

A Mes rate. Gravicask at Pigs Ear. A lovely amber colour but no head. Plenty of hops giving some good citric notes and some earthy malt provides an even balance. Slight peat and caramel. Good bitterness in the finish. A well made and enjoyable brew.
