3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle (William IV, RBESG2011 Saturday)
Has a sour front, but a rich sweet finish. Good roast, burnt without being atringent. I don’t like any sourness in my stouts 99% of the time, so the nose put me off this.

Cask at Brodies BF. Dark brown pour with a light, creamy cap. Some semi-hard, dark malts in the nose, with hints of hops. Light roast flavor, nice sweetness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with some pine hops, pleasant sugars and roasted malts. Solid.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask handpull at William IV Leyton. Very deep ruby colour lasting tan head. Quite hoppy aroma for a stout. Sherbert in mouth and some choc. The most un stout like stout I have ever had. Almost a black ipa. Settles down a bit but still too hoppy for the beer. Quite thin in mouth. Not what I was expecting at all. Odd

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle that was picked up in a mixed box from the pub adjacent to the brewery consumed 04.03.11 Pours grimping mire black as the label said this is blacker than a bailifs heart. There is barely a bubble on the surface perhaps a few stray ones clinging to the edge. Aroma is tobacco and chocolate, bit earthy some leather, liquorice and tobacco again. Loads of dark chocolate, this is also very good, touch of fruit, plum skins perhaps. Nice beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Cask at the Red Lion, Isleworth. Lots of grassy hops on the nose plus just a hint of chocolate.More grassy hops and a dry-bitter finish on the palate. Not especially balanced or smooth. What makes this Jamaican - all the grass??
