Cask conditioned at The Cross Keys, Covent Garden, London. Hazy gold with slight head. There is a fine level of hopping in this beer, kiwi fruit and grapefruit bitterness came to mind, some lychee perhaps with a fruity alcohol note. Big and warming, enjoyable.

Aroma: pineapple, lychee? Very fresh and fruity smell. Appearance: hazy gold, huge white and creamy head. Taste: sweet. Palate: bitter fruits, mild bitterness, hints of a tropical fruit milkshake. Overall: not your ordinary IPA, but very drinkable! Pint at King William IV, London.

Craft Clerkenwell, Tuesday Horal Chugging Tasting, thanks to the Cad for splitting this one, 17/09/13. Murky golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is bitter hops, orange, grapefruit, light smokey notes. Taste comprises orange pith, grapefruit, pine needles, grass, light mineral notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish with subtle hop bitterness. Nice stuff.

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Pours hazy orange with a smooth head. Aroma of stingy caramely malts, exotic fruity hops, berries and sweet mango juicy notes. Taste is malty, caramely and sweet with some exotic fruits, berries and grainy notes. Finish is grainy, malty and sweet with exotic fruity hoppiness and hints of dough. A bit unbalanced and stuffy, but nicely hopped.

Bottle at home, 10th August 2013. Aroma is fabulous, full on fruit cocktail. Initial taste is rich, a little more like a DIPA, very enjoyable, palate and carbonation spot on. Solid stuff

33 cl bottle (7.2%).
Pours cloudy orange color with a large head. Aroma is quite stuffy with exotic fruits, resiny hops, grass and some caramel malts, feels more like a DIPA. Flavor has resiny hops, caramel, some apricot, and the kiwi is there too, some woody and grassy notes also. Bitter fruity palate with a sweetish malty finish. Too stuffy and heavy.

Bottle from The Jolly Butchers, Stoke Newington. As soon as the bottle’s popped that familiar New Zealand citric hop aroma blasts out the bottle. Come sip time, the bitterness jumps too far ahead of the flavour, presenting a richness of lychees, lemon and honey that’s a little too much for my tastebuds, although that could also be down to the alcohol which tastes a lot stronger than 6.5%. Has a touch of cigar dryness on the finish. Not entirely sure what to make of this.

330 ml bottle.
Pours a cloudy bright golden colour with a white head. Aroma of kiwi, lychee, wet earth and weak floral notes. Heavy flavour of strong pungent floral hops, resin, huge sweet kiwi, grapefruit, some yeast, cream crackers and biscuit. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Some alcohol warmth in the finish with strong floral hops, sweet fruits and tangy grapefruit. Probably the most fruity IPA I’ve had so far.

The Cask & Barrel Southside. Golden with White head. Tropical aroma. Lychees, guava. Smells great. Flavour follows suit. A really delicious cask IPA.
