Hand pulled cask at the Old Fountain, Old Street, London. Pale gold with a thick unsparkled white head. Brodies amaze me. Their beers can be such a let down at their brewery tap ( anyone present at the RBESG 2011 should understand this sentiment) but this (in a pub respected for good collaring) was truly stunning! As good as Thornbridge Kipling, despite considerably lower strength. I love this magnificent session ale!
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ladnewton (910) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 21, 2011
Cask at the CASK Pub & Kitchen, London on 19th August 2011. Crystal clear gold with yellowish-white frothy head and a lace that travels down with the beer. A rich hoppy aroma which I found to be grassy and a touch cheesy. Rich hoppiness and grassy throughout the liquid-in-mouth phase, but also with a grapefruit highlight and a biscuity malt note. Reqardingly bitter finish and a pleasantly light easy drinking mouthfeel on a fair amount of body.

Cask conditioned Handpump Malt Shovel Northampton. A golden beer with off-white head and lacing. This is delicious. Beautiful Nelson Sauvin throughout. Lovely gooseberry crispness and great bitterness. Beautifully balanced malt backbone makes it so drinkable and not harsh or sharp in any way. Puckering hops. Gorgeous.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Jolly Butchers. Almost clean gold with just a faint white rim. Big old cat pee, grass and farmyard funk on the nose. Bloody great. I tell you whut, I said I tell you whut, this is a bloody magnificent beer. Epic Nelson Sauvin. Just bloody loads of it. My first sip made me make noises of unabashed excitement. My second sip did exactly the same. Shit the bed this is good. Huge length to the surprisingly dry grassy bitterness. Amazing stuff. A hell of a pair of danglies for a sub 4% beer too. Plenty of punch, wonderfully crisp and dry, thoroughly drinkable. Shit hot stuff from Brodies.

Cask at Jolly Butchers, Stoke Newington. Clear pissy gold colour with minimal head. Big ol’ sauvin hop and tropical fruit aroma that upped the expectation levels massively. Happily, this delivered with bells on. Flavour brought the best out of the NZ input with some great grassy hop bitterness, that really keeps you coming back for more. Great condition. Finished dry and bitter. Got to be one of the best beers I’ve tasted at this strength, a real cracker no dizzle.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Leighton (4094) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2010
Cask at Jolly Butchers. Clear gold pour with a modest, bubbly white head. Strong grass hop aroma with light, tropical fruits. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly fruity, with loads of dry, earthy and grassy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes quite dry with loads of hay and grass hops, and mild fruitiness. Very good.

(sample from tap at CBC) Pours a clear golden with little white head. Good lacing. Aroma is hoppy citrusy - not too overpowering. Oily texture with medium carbonation, medium body and a dry and bitter finish. Taste is moderately bitter. Quite sessionable.

Cask at The Rake, London. Pale golden beer, almost no head. Hoppy fruity citrus aroma, haty and gaprfruit. Fruity hoppy flavor, grapefruit, hay, pine apple and somegrassy notes. Very refreshing.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 shoulderbroken (587) - Tokyo, JAPAN - OCT 2, 2011
Cask at William IV. Golden, slightly cloudy with small white head. Aroma is very fruity. Grapefruit, citrus, mango and bit of bread and a little bit sour dairy. Taste has elements of tropical fruit juice and is slightly oily in the mouth. Very nice beer, must be my favourite Brodies I have ever had. Lovely.
