Quite farmyardy muddy nose with a hint of horse manure. Darkest ruby brown. Nutty slightly bitter woody roast notes. Very well balanced good beer. BBF 2010

Cask handpull at The Old Fountain, Old Street. Very dark brown, thin beige head. A little sour maybe. Bit of vinegar I thought. Decent malty mild behind it, but I didn’t think it was quite right.

From cask at Old Fountain. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Roasted, fruity and light chocolate aroma. Mild acidic note. Quite hardroasted malt flavoured. Light bitterness. Roasted lingerin malt flavoured finish.

Cask at the King Charles I, Kings Cross, London on 2nd July 2009. Virtually black with a lasting cream-coloured head. Looks beautiful in the glass. Coffee and roast barley notes strongly pleasant in both nose and main body taste, leading to a long finish on a pleasant mouthfeel. The ale was in excellent condition at this pub.

A Mes rate. Gravicask at London Drinker.
Black brown colour with a thin beige film. Slight funk in the aroma with a pleasing hint of pig farm. Really good coffee notes offset by a faint sourness. Young and fresh in the mouth, effortlessly drinkable and with a dry finish with a touch of sourness. Really well made and just what a mild should be. In fact it’s the best mild I’ve had in a while.

On gravity at Reading Beer festival, 01/05/09. Near black in colour with hints of red. Very easy drinking, with plenty of caramel and sweet, red fruit, backed up by milk chocolate. Pretty good.

Handpulled cask at the Wenlock Arms. Dark brown with an off white head. Chocolatey malt profile with some caramel and very few hops. Not a bad dark mild.

Cask Conditioned at Wenlock Arms, London, as Brodie’s Mild
The color is amost black. Mix of caramel and chocolate, very light roasted malt, with no thrills, classic (and for me boring) Mild.

reakt (946) - Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 23, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2008 Ok, instead of adding a Brodie’s Mild, I’m rating it as this coz its brewed by Sweet William, has the same ABV and my rate is close to identical. Cask @ The Wenlock. Deep amber with an off white head. Nose has roast malts, chocolate, coffee, nuts and hops, slightly earthy and sour. Taste has sweet toasty malts, caramel, chocolate, sour notes and some nice bittering hops in the finish.
