3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, - JUL 6, 2009
A Mes rate. Gravicask at London Drinker. Black brown colour with a thin beige film. Slight funk in the aroma with a pleasing hint of pig farm. Really good coffee notes offset by a faint sourness. Young and fresh in the mouth, effortlessly drinkable and with a dry finish with a touch of sourness. Really well made and just what a mild should be. In fact it’s the best mild I’ve had in a while.

[Cask at Milton Keynes Beer Festival 2011] Dark brown, loose beige head. Deep, dry roast & smoke with lots of hop presence - pine flavour particularly prominent. Almost more like a very weak black IPA than a mild. Wonder if they’ve changed the recipe, as it seems different to other people’s ratings here?

[cask at the King William IV, Leyton] Classic mild, thin slightly roasty aroma, deep black pour with some reddish hints. Thin head, little carbonation. Toasty on the palate, the roast flavours are there, but they give way as the finish peters out. Decent flavours, really quite enjoyable. I quite liked the fruity notes throughout [20092011]
