Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, May 2013 consumed at home, Sunday 15th September 2013 Pours black with tan head. As the name suggests this does have a milkiness throughout, really pleasant. Smooth and easy drinking beer for the abv, the b/a is apparent but doesn’t intrude. This is a little chocolatey with some coffee but it is more that the creamy milkiness is the prominent characteristic here. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle. Dark with a small head. Creamy chocolate and coffee flavours which were powerful yet very easy to drink. Left no lacing and was well bottled. Seriously impressive.

Bottle @ The Train Tasting, Pt II. The pour’s deep brown with a small off-white head. Big vanilla and toffee on the nose. Some rocky road fudge. The taste is bear claw donut. Quite sweet. More vanilla and toffee. Rich roasted nut provides a little balance. Earthy chocolate. Boozy finish. Full and rich. Overall, not bad stuff. Nowhere close to Brodies’ top-tier efforts, however.

Bottle from Luvian’s. Meh... bit sad about this one. Had several top drawer Brodies recently inc the Big Mofo Mikkeller collab stout, and this isn’t in the same league. Maybe quite young still? Absolutely drinkable though, smooth and gentle for it’s abv. High carbonation - fizzy for style. No major standout characteristics though. Coffee, malts, very light booze. Decent stout.

Leighton (14705) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 6, 2013
Bottle during the High Speed Tasting Pt. II on the train back to London after the Black Country Bus Tour. Thanks to Jack. Pours clear, brown-black with a creamy, tan head. Burnt wood on the nose, some dried fruits. Medium sweet flavor with dry and burnt malts, some leather, bread, charred wood, dried cherries. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate sweetness to finish, some bitter cocoa, dried fruits, char, light alcohol warmth. Nice beer.
