olio (4080) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 1, 2013
33 cl bottle.
Pours pitch black color with a huge, frothy beige head. Aroma has some dark berries, smoke notes, roasted malts, faint hops and chocolate. Velvety and creamy palate with lots of roasted malts, nice salty licorice and salmiac notes, dark milky chocolate and vanilla on the flavor, subtle dark berry notes and burnt cocoa on the background. Surprisingly complex and yet quite balanced brew. Very nice.

Habanero (1671) - Tranbjerg, DENMARK - FEB 17, 2013
Bottled. Pours pitch black with a large, beige head, leaving a fair lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruits, chocolate, lemon zest, a hint of smoke and piney notes. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and slightly bitter. Medium to full bodied, oily to creamy texture and soft CO2. A delicious porter. ★★★★

jackl (2587) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 28, 2013
Bottle split w/ a friend. The pour’s deep brown with a slight tan head. The aroma’s ash, leather, some fruit by the foot, charcoal, woody pacific hops. The taste is inky bitterness, roasted malts, a bit of resin and lemon peel. Hints of forest fire. Medium body, aggressive, full flavors. Overall, a very solid effort!

Bottle at William IV. Dark brown/black colour, gold creamy head. Aroma is subtle smoky, bit creamy, some vanilla, milk chocolate, really nice. Taste is more creamy, very nice, fudge almost. Touch of spice but subtle. Nice sweetness. Haven’t had a beer like this. Very smooth. Really nice.

330ml bottle, best before date is blurred, 01/04/20-something. Pours pitch black with a lasting sand-colored head. The nose is quite hop-forward. Fruity and piney hops, light caramel and some spicy rye. Taste follows with resinous, piney hops on the forefront. Some roasty malt in the background. Slightest hint of smoke in the bitter finish. Palate is sparkly and a bit light with medium carbonation. A little all over the place but still enjoyable.

Bottle at William IV (Magic Rock takeover) 10/12/12. Mid black, mahooosive frothy tan head. Nose is roast malt, light chocolate, touch of minerals, rye evident. Taste follows, roast malt backbone, dark sugars, touch of hops and pine, subtle smokiness, light soap. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation - a bit overcooked in this department for my liking, roast finish. Decent.
