4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 sebletitje (5536) - Enghien, BELGIUM - APR 29, 2012
Draft @ ZBF’12.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sic1314 (1050) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - FEB 9, 2013
Poured dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of coffee and roast malt,. Fairly full body, flavour is more like a strong latte. End is quite bitter, but still with some creamyness.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ibrew2or3 (5823) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUN 1, 2012
Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. Pours murky mahogany with copper edges and full tan head of foam. The aroma is straight up coffee like Folgers coffee and something a little richer. The taste is pretty nice with fairly rich coffee notes rolling into espresso notes, some nuttiness and a bit of toffee like goodness that enhances the experience. This has several layers of coffee and various malt and toffee nuances that creates a rather yummy like harmony.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (2428) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2012
0.75 Litre bottle shared at the Diester Bierfestival on 20 Oct 2012.
Dark brown with a good solid head of tan coloured foam.
Intense coffee flavours: the nose and taste are just infused completely with fresh ground coffee, or that is how it seemed. Stay away from this if you don’t like coffee (there is a hint in the beers name).
Rich and heavy, really enjoyed it: had to have a glass of water afterwards though or I’d not have tasted anything else bar coffee all afternoon.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 77ships (2239) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 27, 2013
75 cl. bottle shared with the group. Procured from ALBO. Dark brown with an okay beige head. Nose is iron, light malts, light chocolate & light plain brewed coffee, not the strongest of noses. Taste is bitter, pure brewed coffee, cold coffee in a good way, light mocha, bitter spices, light liquorish, sweet chocolate, some roast, agreeably bitter roasted coffee beans in the back, cacao, herbs,… Medium body – taste very much like cup of coffee in a good way. Mission accomplished one could say.

Draft at de fiere Margriet, Leuven. Red to brown colour with thick off whte head. Nice bitterness with coffee, nuts and caramel. Nice taste, coffee not dominating but adding to the flavour.

Black colour, tan head. Aroma of coffee and malts, loads of coffee, light hops. Flavour of coffee, light sweetness, quite light and thin, much less than expected from the nose. Finish coffee.
One of the best Broeder Jacob beers I’ve tasted to date.
(Draught @ ZBF ’12)
