Tap sample at In de Wildeman. Clear dark copper to brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of Christmas spices, brown sugar, candied fruits, amber malts, ground coffee. Flavour is likewise, with a nice coffee flavour and good bitterness. Light to medium-bodied. Decent Belgian Strong Ale, came across as a Belgian winter ale with coffee added. Nowhere near a stout as stated here on RB, that must be a mistake.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB 27.11.16, large sample. Bit hazy amber to copper color, medium frothy off-white head. Aroma is quite spicy, clove, licorice, bit toffee, caramel, bit stale malt. Just a tiny hint of coffee. Just your typical spicy belgian dark ale. Sweet and spicy yeast in taste. Medium carbonation, thin to medium body. Boring like all Broeder Jacob beers.

Coffee stout with beige, dense, creamy head, very stable and a bit cappuccino-like, over a very dark wine red beer, almost black. Interesting aroma of candied dates, meat broth, coffee powder, caramel, liquorice and red cabbage. Candied onset, raisins, candi syrup, soft carbonation, smooth, thick and full mouthfeel, deep caramelly and chocolatey maltiness, yeasty, leafy and somewhat citrussy hops in the finish as well as brandy-like alcohol and a touch of roasted coffee bitter, but more subtle than I had expected.

Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, herbs. Flavour is sweet with a light bitter finish. A bit too sweet/herbal, would have liked a heavier coffee character.

Unclear dark brown beer with a big creamy head. Taste is a lot of coffee, caramel, chocolate and a little bitter. More than a coffee beer a stout beer.

A really nice dark beer with actual coffee in it. Tastes really great, but a lot of foam.

Bottled. Full 33cl sample. The aroma has cherries, red fruit, coffee, slight toast. Bit hazy, dark brown coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is sweet, has some coffee and dark fruits all the way. Medium bodied. Light bitterness in the finish. Okay.

Pitch black with brown tones. Nice bubbles, frothy head. Smell is milky chocolate. Leather, drop, sourwood. Subtle hints of apple. Taste is watery bitter. Oily and fizzy with delicious fullness. Finish is bitter fruitiness, lightly hoppy.
