UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Port barrel aged Scotch-style Belgian ale, also tasted as Broeder Jacob Winterklokje - which in turn is the same as Broeder Jacob Kerstklokje. Yellowish light beige, stable head over a dark, hazy ruby red beer. Aroma of chocolate and nuts, meat broth, cinnamon, brown bread, dates, pear, cognac, blackcurrant, coffee powder, port wine, some vague tannins. Fruity taste, sweetish, applish, red berries, caramelly and chocolatey malt sweetness, smooth and full mouthfeel, yeasty with spicy accents, leafy and somewhat peppery hops in the finish as well as some warming port-like alcohol and a roasted bitter coffee touch.

Definitely has a port flavor and nose going. Beautiful looks with a dark brown liquid and latte-brown head. I think it is slightly too carbonated for my taste. For me it kills the flavor a bit. Very drinkable, but it is not overly special, despite the addition of the port.

Alcoholneus, duidelijke portsmaak, subtiele verrijking. Vol in de mond, zoete afdronk wederom met porttoetsen.

Bottle from Marlou in Zonhoven. Nice nice beer, dark brown, beige head. Malty, chocolate. The taste of the port is good balanced. Well done!

Mix up Tawney Port and beer, and then comes the "Broder Jacob Double Port. Very good beer with great aroma and taste of Port, which don’t overwrite the beer taste. Nice colour, red/brown one. Cheers !
