Brune rougeâtre, effervescence moyenne, mousse tombe assez rapidement. Malts caramel prononcés, fruits rouges un peu amers, notes de porto. Bue à peut-être trop basse température, j’y reviendrai...

Bottled as Broeder Jacob Dubbel Port, BB 17/04/14, large sample. Hazy dark ruby color, medium rocky brown head. Aroma is very spicy of stuff like ginger and cardamom or simliar stuff, slight fruity, molasses, sugary, cherry chocolates, hint of marzipan, limoncello? (I sometimes have strange associatons :P). Quite sweet taste with quite some fruit and a little bit of spices. It sounds horrible, but its nothing like a fruit beer (nor like a port though), but maybe a mix between a xmas beer, a double and a fruit beer. Usually I hate this kind of blends, but although its quite unbalanced, I do like it a bit. Sometimes in the nose, it gives a hint of an aged chimay bleu, but then you take a sip and its way too sugary sweet. So there aroma and taste dont match. Weird brew that gets better every sip, which I would have expected the other way around.

Small bottle as "Double Port". Dark brown body, small to medium head. Aroma has dried fruit and dark malt. Taste has dried fruit and some vinous notes. Stronger, but not as detailed and exciting as Broeder Jacob Bruin that I just had.

Sweet beer with a thin body. Stupid that they also market this one as christmas beer.
