Handbottled (thanks Kikster!). Enjoyed with Christmas dinner. Very deep brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is spices, sweet malts, some syrup and mild alcohol. Flavour is fruits, alcohol, mild toasted notes along with sweet maltyness. Pleasant!

Corked bottle. Deep dark brown color. Surprisingly restrained aroma. Dried fruit, malt. Malty sweet vinous flavor. The porto is clearly noticeable. Raisins and some roast. Alcohol. Pleasant enough.

JorisPPattyn (7298) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 7, 2012
Tasted under the naem Reserva 9° 2012 Dubbel Port Very good, lively & whipped eggwhite-like, light tan head, pretty resistant over red-shot dark brown beer. Rathre spicy nose, "dark" spices, melanoidins, garden herbs and dark green leaves. Sweetish smelling, yeasty, even a tad bready. Sweet, if hampered by CO² acidification and a hot feel as from chili. Very dull flavour, otherwise. The portwine gets no justification in the mouth, whatever the label claims. Feels definitely overcarbonated, fizzy, to the extend that the main taste is partly masked. Slightly hot feel, warming. Bland, as to be expected from Du Bocq. And finally, if there is really portwine added, is this a beer, or a cocktail?

Broeder Jacob Double Port 9% 54B
Zythos Bierfestival 2012, Leuven, Belgium. Pours mahogany with dark tan head. The aroma delivers some caramel malts notes and sort of a rock candy sugar odor followed by a bit of sun dried cherries. The taste has some dark roasted malts mixing with caramel and candy sugars. Interesting kind of overly sweet without much to balance it out or add interest.

draft @ Delirium, Brussels.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 14 Dec 2011) Dark brown colour, almost black, with hints of ruby. Frothy beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, caramel, dark cherries and raisins. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried fruit, cherries and hints of port wine. More than medium body, quite sweet. Fairly low bitterness. Nice and tasty.
