COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark wheat beer..not a double brewed wheat beer and not a combination of amber and wheat. This beer has a base of light to brown wheat with specialty malts and a light hop structure.

Draft @ Broken Drum. Pours a deep, clear caramel-amber color; creamy, fine-bubbled off-white head; nice looking beer. Pleasant caramel / rich biscuity notes in the aroma, along with some red fruitiness and a nice earthy hop aroma, almost approaching a citrus character. Medium to medium-full body; average CO2; no overt alcohol. For 7.2%, I could drink the crap out of this beer: rounded, fully developed caramel and biscuity malts accompanied by a ripe red fruit character; just enough balancing earthy and citrus-tinged hop bitterness (some modest flavor); overall, my favorite of the beers we tried; rich maltiness, goes down very smoothly, with enough hop bitterness to keep things alive. Yum. Medium-length finish: toasty, biscuity, with just a bit of mineral bitterness at the far end.

On tap at Broken Drum poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of wheat, carmel and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, carmel and light earthiness with a crisp malty finish.

Tap at the brewpub. Cloudy orange brown with a small off-white head, low retention. Aroma of lemon, toasty malts, and some saltines. Flavor has some light lemon with some chocolate and toasted malts. Also got a little dry dog food. Bitterness peaked at a 3, lightly chalky and semi-dry. Not getting any banana or clove. Medium prickly carbonation with a light to medium body. A dark American wheat?

Pours with an orange body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty yet musty with a nice hoppiness. Medium bodied and dry.
