Droptank (79), Spring, Texas, USA Jul 28, 2008 Had this on tap in Rye Brook N.Y.
It felt it a bit obnoxious, overbearing and insistant upon itself. Much like the people at the bar. Not a fan....sorry! sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 27, 2008 Bottle at Newark airport.
Pour orange/amber with light white head.
Aroma is malty and earthly yeast.
Taste is malt / caramel, crisp and dry finish, hoppy leaving you with a pislner aftertaste.
Drinkable but really nothing special about this beer. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 22, 2008 On tap at Oldsmar Tap House (Tampa, FL). Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with one finger white head. Aroma is wheat, grain, sweet malts, wet dog. Flavor has notes of wet straw, grass, hops with hints of fruit and flowers. Light bodied with a quick, slightly bitter finish. jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 Aroma is earthy pungent english style hops with some citrus overtones. flavor is balaned, but a little one dimentional. just earthy hops and a bit of malt. probably the kind of beer that really shoudl just be served on handpump, because it was unimpressive from the bottle. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 11, 2008 12 oz. "Pennant Ale ’55," best by Oct. 08. Nice amber ale color, spongy tan head. Smell is of caramel malts. Taste is sharp with spicy, mostly English hop matched to crystal toasted malts. No ale-type esters, in fact this suggests some cold lagering. Bit of an alt profile toward the end. Tejas (693), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 6, 2008 Decent example of the style but just way to dry and soapy for my tastes. One and done. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Jul 4, 2008 Clear amber with a frothy tan head. Sticky caramel malt and mellow hop aroma. Malty toffee flavor with soft hops and some fruitiness. Has a wet paper note and the finish is a little metallic. bag (103), Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 4, 2008 From bottle... poured light orange with tall, white pillowy head. Musty aroma. Low in flavor (mostly light malt), which is fine for a drinkin’ beer. But the palate on this ain’t good... leaves an unpleasant bitterness. Still relatively easy to drink, but not at a premium. I’d rather drink Labatt Blue.
