COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

Beautiful translucent pale, golden amber color, very chestnutty in appearance - unusual, really. Aroma of sweet and tangy malts, almost citrusy with hints of mildewed wood. Flavor is more of the same, with a light and wet mouthfeel and an almost soapy bitter finish.

Pretty darn good english pale ale even if the color with a light brown. very little ehad but good bubbling from the bottom of my clear brown pint. The aroma was a biscuit with grassy hops and a kind of sour that made me think of sour dough. Not very big on taste with just a slight bitter and malt flavor.

2010-05-08. Crisp copper body, modest beige head. 3+ Modest aroma, dry caramel malt, light hints of what could be oxidation in the background? Flavour is similar, dry malt with light caramel and toasty notes, light bitterness throughout has a hint of astringency in the finish. Average palate. Decent, but a bit mild overall. Bottle as Pennant Ale 55 at Volo, Toronto

On tap at The Federal, Durham. For some reason the Fed had this listed as a lager, which was what I was in the mood for. Bright amber pour with a small head and fairly decent carbonation, you certainly can’t miss the Fuggles in the nose. So yeah, a mellow, fruity EPA that’s unremarkable but done quite competently. Balanced, with plenty of malt backbone, and a body that’s nicely full. Session brew but not one that screams for a return trip.

Tap at Brooklyn Ale House. Nose is light and grassy. Poured a light clear caramel color. Crisp and malty. Grassy with a bitter finish. Not bad, sessionable.
