| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 19, 2008 glass into bottle. pours copper red with no real head to speak of. aroma is of pears and figs. tastes of overripe banana, grassy, yeasty. washes over palate quickly with just a hint of hoppy finish. ive never been a big fan of Brooklyn Brewery beers. either too hoppy or too bland. this is an exception. good stuff! | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 18, 2008 Copper to amber pour with medium beige head. Aroma is mild fruit, caramel malt, with a touch of roastiness. Roasty malts and citrusy hops clash on the tongue. Tart followed by roastiness isnt working for me. Thinnish body with mild carbonation. Again as it warms I get that bubblegum ester ythat I get from a lot of their beers. Finish is dry with a lingering somewhat herbal hop presence. This is sort of all over the place and could really benifit from some refinement. rman18 (201), South Amboy, New Jersey, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 17, 2008 I had this on tap - It poured like a pale ale with a small white head. It had a nice palate but really did not have much of a flavor to it... I could hardly taste the hops - just an average OK beer. Nothing special chrissy (122), Connecticut, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 3, 2008 12 oz bottle from a trade with Bungalo22. my bottle was the Brooklyn Pennant ’55 Ale version. poured copper with a small head. nice bicuit aroams accompanied by some fruitiness. flavours are nice and malty without being overly sweet. hops are there to balance things but play no major role in aroma or flavour. a decent brew but nothing ill go out of my way to get. yesyouam (589), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2008 Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale ’55 is a dense amber ale with a small, dense, frothy off-white head that fades to a thin film with oily bubbles. It has nice dense lacing. (I just used the word "dense" three times in describing this beer’s appearance.) It has a smooth malty aroma with some spicy hops in it. The body is medium-light, foamy and pretty smooth. The flavor is well balanced, crisp and resiny. The bitterness is ample with a soft spice. The aftertaste is resiny with a touch of wood and leather. It’s a nice, well rounded session ale. 17thfloor (1452), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Smells very English. Sour biscuity malt aroma. Rich English malt flavor with just the right touch of hops to accent it. Slightly sweet slightly fruity and slightly bitter. Medium body with larger but still nice carbonation. Good stuff and yea very balanced and drinkable.
