2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 pushkinwow (739) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 23, 2011
12oz bottle. Amber somewhat hazy towards the end, biege head that settles quite quickly. Malt, caramel, nuts, some grains, not much hops. Slightly sweet, relatively smooth, lots of malt and becomes too sweet, like the dryness and nuttiness at the end. M’eh.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 weihenweizen (632) - West Virginia, USA - DEC 11, 2011
Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker at Junior’s in Time Square. Pours clear light amber with one and a half inch off-white head that dissapates fairly quickly. Some small bubble lacing, medium/light body, and medium carbonation. Taste is light toasty caramel malt and finishes with some lightly bitter hops. Somewhere between an English pale ale and just a regular stock ale (hops are pretty subdued).
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rondphoto (463) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - DEC 9, 2011
Hazy deep amber with a persistent rim head and no lace. Taste is solid with good balance between medium caramel malt and floral hops. Easy drinking, lots of flavor, not filling,....good for a long cool evening.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 curly (2201) - Seattle (Newcastle), Washington, USA - NOV 28, 2011
Clear golden amber, thin beige head recedes leaving a very small ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is mostly lemony hop, wet leaf, slight tart berry, toffee. Taste is sweet fruit, floral hop, very mild bitterness, slight tart again. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was thinking a golden/blond or lager with the pennant reference, but this was a nice surprise.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 msojka (411) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 25, 2011
Pour is a translucent amber, with a thin tan head, quickly turning to a ring. Nose is of some slight hops, very indistinct however. Taste is slightly watery, though I suppose the word pale implies that, however the taste is maltier than the nose would give off, like a English pale ale should be.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Damico (1222) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2011
Pours chestnut amber with a white head. The aroma is light nutty malts with vague sweet notes. The beer is lighter in body, easy to drink without much hop or other profiles in general. Tastes like a light ale with some roasted malt notes.

Peculiar. I do prefer this over the hopped up versions of pale ales. The aroma is confusing. Malty -Much more Brown that Pale in all facets..... which is ok, but than if I want a pale, I am not sure I’d get this....... tho I like it. The appearance is more Brown. White head but it dissipates and is weak. The taste is pleasant. Sweet (maybe too much so) and there is minimal hopping to leave any bitterness that many Pale’s counter the sweetness with. The palate is suitable. Not overly carbed or bitter. Overall, I like it but I am not sure it fits what I expet from an English pale.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 mkgrenwel (435) - Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Light amber, pretty clear. Orange, heading towards copper but not there. Full finger of offwhite head, resides within 30 seconds, leaving no lacing ad no trace on the beer. Nothing much in the aroma. Light doughy, yeasty notes with maybe a touch of earthy hops. Lightest touch of sweetness on the tongue. A little sharp with the carbonation. Slightly buttery toffee, not metallic but threatening to go there. Diacetyl. Just a touch of bitterness in the back to balance, but there’s not much malt flavor to counter. Really doesn’t show any hops, which is a letdown. Seriously watery in parts of the mouth, particularly on the sides. Cardboardy flavors made me check the date on the bottle, but it’s theoretically fresh. I really like and respect some of Brooklyn’s beers and want to at least call this boring, but it’s worse than that. There’s some serious problems here, and nothing much else.
