Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

Marked pennant ale 55. Copper colored, with a large, loose head. Malty aroma, with some hops. Medium body, with an almost IPA intensity of hops and malt. Finishes a bit long. But, the hops cover well.

Bottled (as pennant ale 55). Dark amber colour, small white head. Aroma is caramel, grass and hops. Flavour is the same along with some raisins and even alcohol. The hoppiness grows a lot in the finish. Very pleasant product.

Rated 4/17/07: Light brown pour with a copper tint, dwindling head and decent lacing. Mild aroma of fresh bread, sweet butter, and light brown sugar. Flavour has a strong biscuity maltiness coupled with some sharp English style hops (Fuggles anyone?). A light caramel and brown sugar follows the initial flavour and ends with a dry honey sweetness. Mouthfeel is crisp with a medium body, light enough to enjoy a few in a row and heavy enough to please the senses.

Wood like aroma. Solid body. Quite dry. Flavor is more wood. Finishes with a punchy bitterness.

This is a pale ale? Pour was a dark gold with no head. Aroma of smoke and malt. Taste of smokiness with a strong malt backbone. Maybe a tad of hops in the aftertaste.Thick mouthfeel with little carbonation.

12 oz. Bottle: honey amber pour with a faint off-white head that fades some but leaves lots of lacing, faint hop floral fragrance, sweet toasty and nutty malt aromas with faint caramel, taste of malt with toast and faint caramel, dry finish with a nice bite, tasty drink.

Bottle from Total Wine in Huntersville NC, this beer was good from the start. Drank easy with a slight aroma of malts and hops, a very nice beer but one that shouldn’t be rated higher than some of the other outstanding beers.

Pop the lid for an aroma reminesent of uncleaned showers that may have mold growing in there. Don’t ask me how I know. Pour is a little darker and more brown than the ubiquitous pale yellow american beer. However, this color is more like Yuengling lager than a dark beer. About as good as flavor goes when compared to other EPA that I have tasted. I must say tho this is better than Saranac Pale Ale. Not bad for a backup but too muchfor a session. Finish is not oppresive and I don’t think I can detect much bitterness on the finsh. The finish does have a sort of hoppy bite forming some kind of odd fruit impact on the back of the throat that hangs for a while.
