surf1284 (91), USA Apr 22, 2007 Pours a clear golden color, head has little retention. A unique ale, hints of some caramel and citrus. sneagrams3 (1704), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Apr 21, 2007 12oz bottle. Still under the ’55 label. Filtered and deep amber. Minimal head. Citrus aromas. Bready malts and sugary aromas. Medium bodied and dry. Good malt cereal flavors. Nice palate. Touch fruity undertones. Crisp and off-dry finish. Full lingering orange grapefruit hop finish. Easy and totally quaffable. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Apr 16, 2007 Draft. The aroma is mild, just a little bit of sweet malt. The flavor is similar but very dry, and it also has some prominent fruity flavors. Not very good for an english pale ale. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2007 Clear brassy-golden body with a standard sudsy white head. English malt signatures of caramelized fruit, plus mild diacetyl and a very modest hop profile. Medium sticky malt flavor and moderate bitterness in the finish. Delicate beer with an obvious English ale inspiration. Seems aimed somewhere in the realm of Bass Ale. Fair product overall.
jonwayne4883 (401), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Apr 11, 2007 had this as pennant ale ’55. really didnt taste like a pale, actually one of the more disappointing beers i’ve had. watery and flavor less for the most part, not a repeat buy. eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Mar 26, 2007 Poured an amber color with a slight haze, decent head, retention was weak, lacing only slightly above average. The aroma was pine hops, fruity esters, light caramel. The flavor followed suit, caramel, light toffee, assertive bittering hops (clearly noble hops), light pine. The mouthfeel was rather light and thin and this thing had a watery grainy texture. crizay (1050), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Mar 25, 2007 Amber pour, white head. Crisp buttery malts, with a toasted biscuit touch and some caramel malts, finished with some spicy hops. And an irony aftertaste to kill all of it. Darkover (1308), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 14, 2007 Golden/copper color with a small white head. Aroma of bready malt. Strong malt flavor, not much hops.
