JoeMcPhee (4911), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 31, 2006 Copper coloured beer with a thin off white head. Slightly sweet, caramel aroma. Some orange and earthy/herbal hop aroma. Soft floral character and some light cherry and apple esters. Great malt structure, fresh toasted grain, bread crust and a very soft spicy hop flavour. Soft bitterness that fades leaving the lingering toasty sweetness slowly fading on the palate. A hint of chocolate. Light cherry and earthiness. Nice balanced brew. Another surprise from these guys. hammenlind (738), Sundbyberg, Sweden May 28, 2006 Amber coloured, beige head. Malt is most present in aroma, some roastyness and vague hope notes is there too. Slight sour-ish flavour with hints of roasted malt and sweet chocolate. Dry mouthfeel. Silphium (2117), Haslett, Michigan, USA May 24, 2006 Hazy amber body, thin off-white head. Nutty, biscuity, grassy nose. Grassy, herbal hops body with nutty notes and breads, light sweetness. Rather light body overall, but with a decent bite on the front of the tongue. PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA May 21, 2006 Updated: Jul 19, 2006Orangey-amber filtered look, off white head. Sweet maltiness. Low gassyness, pleasant nutty flavor. Long hoppy dry finish. thewolf (5662), Kolding, Denmark May 18, 2006 Amber colour with limited head. Aroma is fruity, with a hint of hops and caramel. Taste is quite mild, citric and with limited bitterness from hops. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA May 8, 2006 Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55 - Pours a light amber color. Aromas of fruit, hops, and light caramel malt sweetness. Flavor is hoppy but a well balanced mixture of hops and malts, with a nice citrus taste. chriso (4685), London, Greater London, England May 7, 2006 Bottle, late night at the Temple Bar, Copenhagen, RBESG Pub Crawl, August 2005. Last beer of a very long day. Thought I’d got something unusual as it was labelled Pennant Ale 55, but it turns out its just a rebadge of Brooklyn Ale. Dry and malty. Pleasant enough but not too interesting.
radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Apr 30, 2006 as Rooklyn Pennant 55 ale. Okay, not too bad. No overly powerful aroma, but pretty decent regular run of the mill ale. Malty flavor, with some orange and a pretty clean finish.
