Habanero (610), Tranbjerg, Denmark Dec 26, 2005 Bottle: Pennant Ale ’55. Little beige, short lasting and totally diminishing head. Pale amber colour. Floral and hoppy aroma with caramel and some roasted malt. Flavour of malt with notes of oranges. Mild sweetness. Light to medium bodied. Little bitter finish. OK - but not unique. Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Dec 23, 2005 Bottle. Off-white head. Clear copper body. Proper hops aroma. Roasted malty flavor with disappointingly little hops taste. The aroma suggested more. stouby (1931), Holbaek, Denmark Dec 21, 2005 Bottle, at home, Pennant Ale ’55.
Dark orange with a little beige head, almost diminishing, no lacings. Aroma moderate to heavy malty (roasted, caramel) and moderate hoppy. Flavor moderate to heavy sweet, moderate bitter. Light to medium body, oily, soft carbonated. ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA Dec 14, 2005 Clear amber pour with a medium frothy tan head. Malty aroma, buttery, mild hop presence. Butterscotch aroma and flavor to start. Rich malty presence, watering out considerably middle/finish. Thin mouthfeel, hint of lingering roasted maltiness and mild hop bittering to finish. Pretty good. sunevdj (1764), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Dec 10, 2005 Pors amber with a white head. Sour with aromas of fruits and flowers. Hints of eldeberryflowers. Acidic. Too aggressive hoppy finish. Too sour. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA Dec 7, 2005 On tap at Brooklyn Brewery, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. Clear red amber ale having small diminishing head and spare lacing. Slight sweet malt aroma. No discernable carbonation. Light-to-medium bodied that starts with slight sweet malt and ends with an abrupt finish. A mediocre drinkable beer that is rather thin and watery tasting. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 19, 2005 Bottle, as Pennant Ale ’55. Dark orange, small white head. Nice tea like hop aroma. Light mouthfeel. Decent mild ale taste, but the tea like quality initially detected in aroma distracted here in the taste (I wonder if it was a sign of age perhaps?). A bit of a lingering herbal bitterness. Had the basis of a good beer but didn’t quite come together for me. shrubber85 (2832), Wallhalben, Germany Nov 18, 2005 Bottle. An orange juice, spice and cream aroma. Orange brown color - slightly cloudy with little head. Sour orange and light malt flavor - mild hops finish. Body on the weak side. Different - a bit too fruity for an ale for me.
