PetetheMeat (546), Hove, Denmark Nov 10, 2005 Amber, short white head. Spicy slightly hoppy aroma. Malty flavour. Nutty? Watery palate. Nice and mild. True to its origin?!... saxo (3513), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Nov 8, 2005 Bottled Beer of the Month. Average ale. Sight bitter hop taste but that’s really it. Looked like a pale DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Nov 5, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with jah noth, thanks Dan!) Best before September, 2005. ’55 is when the Dodgers won the World Series, not when the beer was bottled, hehe. This beer is rather bready, nutty and quite toasty, with a bit of sweet caramel flavor too. A gentle bitterness complements the maltiness, but the malt is noticeably in the forefront and quite enjoyable. The nutty and somewhat bready aroma is also pleasant. I’m less than stoked about the light-medium body, it seems a bit watery to me given the malty flavor, but the beer has a soft and caressing mouthfeel to make up for the thinness. Medium amber color with near perfect clarity. A light tan head rises to half an inch before settling to a ring without leaving any lacing. Nothin’ too fancy with here, but it makes for a nice easy drinking session beer. LoveCaissa (873), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 1, 2005 Very English Ale with the classic biscuity flavour from the Maris Otter malt. Pleasant and true to the style but I am not that big a fan. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Oct 30, 2005 definitely not my favorite BK beer. but i did have a pretty old bottle, so maybe my rating is obscure. had a nice browny orange copper color. thin white head. smelt of swill and some astirngency. tastes like someone dropped some pennies into a pale ale. not much in the way of specific hops. kinda blah. would love to try it again sometime. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA Oct 30, 2005 maroon influenced copper color. nutty b urnt medicine aroma, old, some subtle malts in it and a slight bitter burnt feel. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia Oct 25, 2005 Had this bottle disguised as "Pennant Ale ’55". No worries, though. Pours a pancake syrup brown, cloudy with some amber/orange/gold when held to light. Like a thick iced tea. Head is scalded milk brown and nicely thick, creamy. Aroma is yeasy dought, complex malts, english hops, faint spice. Rather good. Taste is full palated with those bright cascade hops really showing pine and lemon, along with the yeast rolls and malted grains. There is an odd sugariness on the tongue that I can’t quite place, but that the beer could do without. Same with a faint sourness in the aftertaste. Still, a nice drinking ale. Damn good for the style Pernille (518), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 19, 2005 A very hoppy ale. Lots of hops in both aroma and flavor. Still, it’s very well balanced and all in all an ale above average.
