COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

This is a very malty English-style pale ale; it actually kind of reminds me of a brown ale. The flavor is sweet and a little nutty, with just enough hops to balance it out. Good color and decent aroma. A pretty good example of the style.

This is a very tasty example of this style and the reason Garrett is one of my favorite brewers. Pours a deep hazelnut color, with a light frothy head. The aroma is full of sweet malts, the flavor is full of toffee and caramel, with a bit of a nutty taste following into the a bit of a bite in the aftertaste from the hops. I could drink this all the time.

(draught) Lovely copper color with small whit head. Some malt aroma. Very balanced hops and malt flavor. The hops aren't over the top-definately an English style (as opposed to American) pale ale. Would be a fine session beer.

Light brown ale with a hazy cloud. Nose of malt and cardboard Sweet malt with some nuttyness and a light hops, but again, the beer is oxidized, with the stale cardboard coming out. Body is still nice and would be medium.

Copperish, nutty brown in color. Has a honey nut smell to it with a decent head. Tastes of slight alcohol and malt. A better than average ale from a better than average brewer.

Chestnut and copper with almost no head. A nice combination of malt and hops. English Breakfast tea, honey, grains and pine. The body is fairly moderate with a clean finish. The flavors in this one are nice, however, it's just missing something and can't compare with some of it's siblings.

Nice abmer body and a thin head on it. Leafy hop aroma with malt in toe. Flavor is smooth, quite oily at first, and ends with a good crisp feel to it.

UPDATED: AUG 21, 2011 I have mixed feelings about Brooklyn. They make a couple of wonderful beers and then a bunch of uninspired ones like this one. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a murky brown color with a moderate tan head that lingers. There is a strong floral hop scent. The flavor is strong and sour up front and lingers with maltinesss. There is a malty aftertaste. It smells better than it tastes. An acceptable basic ale but nothing more.

Poured light amber with a nice thick foamy white head. Aroma was malty and slightly sweet. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Slight bitter finish with mild hop tones. This was a very enjoyable beer.

Draught at the Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn, NY.</br> Deep amber colour with a beige head. Vanilla malt aroma. Served way to cold to enjoy properly. Moderate, smooth palate easy drinking. Needs more malt flavour to compete but the vanilla is a good first step.
