Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

A rich, brass-colored ale with a pleasant aroma. Nutty, bready taste - a little dry and sour too. Hops are a little sharp, but not too intense. Pretty well carbonated. It is nice to see a brew pay tribute to the great Brooklyn Dodgers teams of the 1950s.

Bottle. Nose is subdued hops. Clear golden amber with a thin white head leaving good lacing. Nice mellow bitterness. Palate is slightly sharp but with a nice thickness.

Fruity and creamy-smooth with a smooth hop bite for balance. It looks foggy orange-gold features aromas and taste of honey, caramel, and hops... really nice session beer.

Pours a clear dark golden amber color with a thin white foam head that quickly fades. Pilsner malt in the aroma with a subtle hop presence. Malty ale with a nice crisp hop balance. Slightly watered down with nice hop taste up front that is balanced by a sweet malty center and a dry, bitter hop finish.

On tap at Brooklyn Brewery, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. Clear red amber ale having small diminishing head and spare lacing. Slight sweet malt aroma. No discernable carbonation. Light-to-medium bodied that starts with slight sweet malt and ends with an abrupt finish. A mediocre drinkable beer that is rather thin and watery tasting.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a straw color with a white head. Very grassy in aroma, almost like a ball field. Tastes mildly of citrus and caramel. High in water content for my taste. Minor league.

Amber with decent, creamy off-white head / Faint, sweet. caramel malt nose / Light body, weak malts with no discernable hops, and without much finish / Simple flavors of light caramel malt with a little sweetness on the finish / Dissapointing effort for the usually reliable Brooklyn.

Pours a deep, clear, reddish brown color with a small, lingering off-white head. It has a nice malty aroma typical of English pale ales. Medium bodied with low carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is nicely malty with hints of caramel with a mild hoppiness appearing in the finish. Very smooth and tasty. Nicely balanced between the hops and malts. Good ale.
