Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

Copper colored pour with an intially large, but then filmy white head. Aroma of hops, mostly floral with some barely discernable malt. Hoppy taste, nothing extrodinary though. Again, some malt shows up toward the finish but not really much for a backbone. Crisp finish, dry. Good, but nowhere as good as this brewerys chocolate stout... good lord that stuff is the bomb.

Smells stale. Checked the bottle, said it was good for another few months. Tastes of stale fruit and hops. Aftertaste is dry.

Aroma is earthy pungent english style hops with some citrus overtones. flavor is balaned, but a little one dimentional. just earthy hops and a bit of malt. probably the kind of beer that really shoudl just be served on handpump, because it was unimpressive from the bottle.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small frothy white head that leaves decent spotty lacing along the glass. The aroma is a light malt with raisin and caramel. The taste is a grain malt with a bit of citrus on the finish. Has more of an amber taste than an english pale ale but still decent from Brooklyn.

Light chestnut colored. Very fast head collapse leaving a thin lace. Nose of cookie dough malts, nuts and light hopping. Thinnish, watery body with nice malts, the middle is a bit acidic and dry with a forgettable bland and watery finish. Hops seem out of place(unbalanced)Very average. Perhaps a bad batch for I am a bit past the freshness date.

Malty aroma, with an orange-brown color. The taste is faintly malty and hoppy, but overall the flavor here is fairly weak. Not the best pale ale or the best offering from Brooklyn.

Amber coloured, beige head. Malt is most present in aroma, some roastyness and vague hope notes is there too. Slight sour-ish flavour with hints of roasted malt and sweet chocolate. Dry mouthfeel.

Draught. Have always found this pretty boring, yeah it has got some hops but does not havet much else of interest.
