COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

DATE TASTED: August 9, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Howard’s Pub pint... OCCASION: home alone--meeting the family in Point Pleasant tomorrow... APPEARANCE: swirling activity below a two-finger thick froth that paints (rather than laces) the glass the body is a burnt orange with steady effervescence--drop-dead gorgeous , and only a foot away!... AROMA: smooth, malty base with a bit of bready dough that mellows the secondary citric kick with a surprising apple scent--otherwise, reserved, as an ESB might behave... PALATE: understated, almost buttery smooth with little resistance from teeth to throat--a bit watery...TASTE: a basically thin malt profile pervades; typical doughy funk intertwines with buttery notes and a bit of toast--not feeling this one as impactful or winning a specific category... OVERALL: Plusses include its attractive pour and easy sipping nature; negatives (if there is such a thing for Brooklyn brew) is its paper-thin fortitude and rather doughy aftertaste...bearing the "pennant" moniker, this beer should be more of a success that its name suggests; as it is, this beer is merely serviceable, but a lesser player in the mix pack than I hoped. I was surprised at the more favorable rating afforded by other reviewers, but I will stick with my experience...

Poured from a bottle. Copper orange color. Decent little head and not a bad amount of lacing. Very fruity nose, tasty tart taste. Slight filmy palate.

Bottle. Light copper with little head. Smells of grain. Mild flavor. Easy to drink but not super pleasant. Brooklyn does not win the pennant.

A very tasty pale ale. Good bread and buttery toast notes with a mildly fruity hoppiness. Part of a mixed Brooklyn 12-pack. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Keg at London Fields, as ’Brooklyn Pennant 8%’. I’m guessing that this is the same beer and they just got the ABV wrong. Hazy brown, still, decent off-white head. Aroma is metallic and yeasty. Body is medium, a touch of carbonation, slightly foamy in the mouth. Taste is liquorice malt, some metalllic notes. Very average.

From lescar, sheffield. Amber ale with a hardy white head. Aroma is grassy and nutty, taste is malty and dry very clean. Prickly and medium-light bodied. Refreshing pint.

Not bad. Love the label but the beer ain’t anything to get excited about.. Golden yellow, earthy spicy hops and light biscuit and caramel. Not too exciting but well made. Probably a one timer for me."

Look here, this is exactly what you would want from an easy drink’er: a medium malty backbone, with a nice crisp hop presence. Don’t over-think this one, it is a fine session beer. Serving: Multiple pours off draft.
