Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

Enjoyable English Pale Ale that gets the balance between malt sweetness and hop bitterness just right. Proof that an East Coast brewery can brew an good English Pale Ale.

Beautiful soft copper color. with a cloudy body. Initially sports a thick off-white head that thins out and clings to the perimeter of the glass. Thick, sweet Maris Otter malt aroma. A slightly winey odor as well. Immensely sweet, so much so that any hop flavor is soundly squashed like a bug. As I finish the beer I still can’t figure out whether or not I like it. Strange.

Mellow, lightly hopped, carmel complex, rather dry for a pale, not bad, but nothing special.

Bottle at beerbistro. Clear copper with a good sized white head. Aroma is mainly malty, with some toast and caramel, and some tingly hops coming up behind. Good mouthfeel - not too light, not too heavy. Well balanced flavour, perhaps a bit too sweet off the top, but with some good herbal hop notes in the finish. Nothing outstanding, just a solid, unassuming ale.

Boy did I buy into the stores marketing this as a new beer rather than just a new label. Very drinkable beer. Good balance of malts and hops. Malt is a little sweet for me and fuggles are not my favorite hop but this one works for me.

Copper with decent head. Citrus hops and lots of bready malts on the nose. Nice bready malts with a floral hop presence. Well balanced ale.

Poured light amber with a nice thick foamy white head. Aroma was malty and slightly sweet. Medium bodied mouthfeel. Slight bitter finish with mild hop tones. This was a very enjoyable beer.
