Initially sports a thick off-white head that thins out and clings to the perimeter of the glass. Thick, sweet Maris Otter malt aroma. A slightly winey odor as well. Immensely sweet, so much so that any hop flavor is soundly squashed like a bug. As I finish the beer I still can’t figure out whether or not I like it. Strange. Aroma is mainly malty, with some toast and caramel, and some tingly hops coming up behind. Good mouthfeel - not too light, not too heavy. Well balanced flavour, perhaps a bit too sweet off the top, but with some good herbal hop notes in the finish. Nothing outstanding, just a solid, unassuming ale. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA

Very drinkable beer. Good balance of malts and hops. Malt is a little sweet for me and fuggles are not my favorite hop but this one works for me.
