Tastes similar to scottish red ale, but with a metallic aftertaste. Honestly, my only regret is that I’d have picked a better beer to celebrate my 100th rating. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 5, 2005 Thin bodied and smooth with some bitterness in the aftertaste. I prefer the increased presence of hops in the average APA to this, but this is a good representation of the English version and would make a good session ale. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a thin white head. Mostly a biscuity malt aroma with a hint of hops in the back. Lightly carbonated. Taste of mostly toasty malts with a very light earthy hop finish. A very subdued pale - I had assumed it was an amber. Too lw-key for my tastes. darkcarrington (31), USA

Not my favorite pale ale but then again there really isn’t anything wrong with it. IF only I were a dodgers fan... cryfreedmb (113), Ocean, New Jersey, USA

A decent everyday beer. But there are probably better options if it’s an Ale that you desire. wmtribesman (21), Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2007 Bottle of Pennant ’55 poured into a pint glass. Translucent amber with a large, large head that sticks around. Aroma is quite hoppy, but more sour hoppy than bitter hoppy. The flavor has notes of wheat bread and sour hops. Not bad, but lacking a good hoppy bite. Not a winter beer at all. I could see it being extremely refreshing on a 90 degree day though. NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottle. Clear copper color with slightly golden white head that quickly dissipates. Sweet malty smell that is pleasant. Taste is sweet, malty, and slight citrus flavor, and hops linger in the aftertaste. Nice beer.
