COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

On tap at The Federal, Durham. For some reason the Fed had this listed as a lager, which was what I was in the mood for. Bright amber pour with a small head and fairly decent carbonation, you certainly can’t miss the Fuggles in the nose. So yeah, a mellow, fruity EPA that’s unremarkable but done quite competently. Balanced, with plenty of malt backbone, and a body that’s nicely full. Session brew but not one that screams for a return trip.

Good solid maltiness with some hops there is more substance to this beer than I feel some people are giving it credit for.Easy drinker.Would buy again

Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale 55 12oz bottle. Pours an amber color with a small dense off-white head that fades to a thin film. It has nice lacing. It has a smooth malty aroma with some spicy hops. The body is medium and smooth. The flavor is well balanced and crisp. It has sweet toasted malt with biscuits and a hint of hops. Slight citrus flavor finishes the beer nicely.

Drank as Pennant Ale ’55. Thanks Vanessa. Dark brown body with tan head. Nose of caramel and malts. Prickly mouthfeel. Taste of malts and caramel. Some citrus in the finish. Enjoyable.

12 oz bottle from Jonthan Ron. Pours an impressive looking clear orangeish/amber with a large fluffy light beige head that leaves a nice slick on top of my beer for the duration. Aroma was malt dominant with amber malts, honey on brown toast and some grassy hops. Palate is medium bodied with average carbonation and just a touch of bitterness on the end. Flavor isn’t quite as pronounced as the aroma but was basically some cereal grains, toast, caramel and a slight touch of sourness. Very sessionable.

Pours a clear golden color, head has little retention. A unique ale, hints of some caramel and citrus.

Bottle reads Pennant Ale ’55. This was a decent English pale ale, a very drinkable one. Although smooth, it is not watery or thin. Malts are a bit dry. Good ale.

Really liked this beer. Enjoy all of the Brooklyn beers actually. Had this one as brooklyn Pennant 55 Ale... so they must be still making it as both names.
