Commercial Description:
Formerly known as Pennant Ale '55...Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale '55 is a classic English pale ale, brewed with the prized Maris Otter Malt and Fuggles, Willamette and Cascade hops. Maris Otter is an old malt variety that yields an incomparable biscuity flavor. Pennant is chesnut-colored, medium in body with a hearty malt palate and smooth hop finish. This beer is a tribute to Brooklyn’s world champion baseball team.

Clear amber pour with a medium frothy tan head. Malty aroma, buttery, mild hop presence. Butterscotch aroma and flavor to start. Rich malty presence, watering out considerably middle/finish. Thin mouthfeel, hint of lingering roasted maltiness and mild hop bittering to finish. Pretty good.

Copper colored pour with an intially large, but then filmy white head. Aroma of hops, mostly floral with some barely discernable malt. Hoppy taste, nothing extrodinary though. Again, some malt shows up toward the finish but not really much for a backbone. Crisp finish, dry. Good, but nowhere as good as this brewerys chocolate stout... good lord that stuff is the bomb.

Wonderful aroma of floral hops after a nice light copper colored pour. Flavor was quite lemony. Smooth hop finish is a good description. Not bitter (to my chagrin). Head on pour was large but disappeared quickly.

Bottle. Pours golden amber with off-white head. I got a lot of English yeast, too much yeast imo, in the flavor and aroma, and this obscured some of the other aromas and flavors. Asside from super yeasty, I found it a bit earthy, and while drinkable, I wouldn’t go out of my way for any in the future (unless they do a different recipe).

Bottle. Clear reddish brown, medium off-white head. Toffeish, nutty malt aroma, grassy and piney hops. Medium bodied, decent mouthfeel. Light sweetness to start with, and a moderate bitterness in the (short) finish. Well balanced but onedimensional.

has a good mild hop flavor to it, aroma is a tad sweet, but had an aftertaste that a didn’t appreciate all that much.

Pours a light copper color with medium off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves little lacing. Nose is muted floral and malt with a dry, slightly sweet mouthfeel. Flavor picks up the floral nose and adds a hint of grass, all a little on the malty side. My big sdsilike with thiss was the finish, which was dry to the point of being stale, with a lingering cottony after-taste. Okay, but nothing to write home about.

Really malty for such a light color. This has a fruity and chewy flavor and mouthfeel, and hardly any bitterness. I could down tons of this. Very Good. Bottle from Total Wine and More, Naples, Florida.
