Fresh nose of malt and fruits with a fine, discreet hoppy aroma. Very pleasant and quaffable. Awakes nice memories of last years "Brooklyn Pig Fest" where this was a favourite. It leaves a white laced head that disappates quickly as you drink. The beer is clear and bright, looks inviting. As you smell it malt, grass, and grapefruit come to mind. The taste is lemon, honey, caramel....this is great session beer one that would go well with blue cheese burger or fish and chips. A dish that has a salty finish.

Caramel, toasted malty aroma. Flavour is great and balanced with lots of perfumy, floral hops offset by a pretty strong malt sweetness. Just a well done standard ale by a top-notch brewery. Pours a clear medium coppery orange with a good-sized off-white head that lingers and laces. Aroma is very nice - sweet toasty Marris Otters mingle with a variety of hops - the English varieties dominate, but there is that distinctive U.S. aroma from the Cascades. Slight metallic quality on the nose as well. Flavour dead on for an EPA, at least the ones I’ve had. Lots of malt but expertly balanced with a good dose of woody, twiggy hops. Earthy and fresh. Low carbonation lends a very soft mouthfeel and the abv% make this a truly excellent session ale. Good show, and a perfect beer for tomorrow’s MLB season opener. Play ball! yesyouam (611), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2008 Brooklyn Pennant Pale Ale ’55 is a dense amber ale with a small, dense, frothy off-white head that fades to a thin film with oily bubbles. It has nice dense lacing. (I just used the word "dense" three times in describing this beer’s appearance.) It has a smooth malty aroma with some spicy hops in it. The body is medium-light, foamy and pretty smooth. The flavor is well balanced, crisp and resiny. The bitterness is ample with a soft spice. The aftertaste is resiny with a touch of wood and leather. It’s a nice, well rounded session ale. llcooldave (339), San Antonio, Texas, USA
