VeloVampire (400), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 30, 2008 12 oz bottle, courtesy of my sister and bro-in-law. Pours a clear medium coppery orange with a good-sized off-white head that lingers and laces. Aroma is very nice - sweet toasty Marris Otters mingle with a variety of hops - the English varieties dominate, but there is that distinctive U.S. aroma from the Cascades. Slight metallic quality on the nose as well. Flavour dead on for an EPA, at least the ones I’ve had. Lots of malt but expertly balanced with a good dose of woody, twiggy hops. Earthy and fresh. Low carbonation lends a very soft mouthfeel and the abv% make this a truly excellent session ale. Good show, and a perfect beer for tomorrow’s MLB season opener. Play ball!
jmm635 (77), Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2008 Poured a pale golden color with a creamy white head. Citrusy aromas along with some hops. Flavor is similar, mainly hoppy. Nice palate. Crisp and refreshing without being too light. afireinside96 (494), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 5, 2008 On tap at the KSBF ’08 as Brooklyn Pennant Ale ’55. Hazy gold body with a small head. Nose of citrus. Fairly bland caramel flavor with a hint of soapiness. Nothing special. mgoy (282), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Sep 25, 2008 Bottled.
Brooklyn Pennant Ale is a clear amber color with a small head in relation to the large amount of carbonation. The aroma and flavor are clean with high notes of caramel. The malty base gives this ale a smooth finish which leads to a very drinkable beer.
This is a great beer ot drink when others are pounding american macros.
