COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brooklyn BAMboozle We remember it like it was yesterday, but that’s because it pretty much was yesterday. Not long ago, Brooklyn was supposedly “Crooklyn”, a strange land where people spoke in tongues, cabs feared to tread, and you couldn’t get a decent piece of cheese. And BAM, the grandly-titled Brooklyn Academy of Music, seemed to stand as a silent sentinel, a remnant of a glorious past few seemed to remember. Here at Brooklyn Brewery, we remember the real Brooklyn. We remember pioneering beer bars, wild Berlin-style raves at the Old Mustard Factory, the Liveri boys smoking the mozzarella in a little metal box every morning outside Joe’s Busy Corner, prosciutto sliced so thin you could read the newspaper through it, and jerk chicken that made your eyes water. BAM remembers our Brooklyn too, and helped transform it into a place everyone suddenly wants to be. So, when BAM asked us to make a beer for their 150th anniversar y, we wanted to make them something really special. BAMBoozle features a large addition of wildflower honey from the New York family apiary Tremblay Farms – we pick up the honey from Alan Tremblay at the Greenmarket. Blended with golden malts, it is fermented to a dry complexity by our Belgian yeast strain, and then re-fermented in the bottle like Champagne. When the cork pops, the beer shows a shimmering effer vescence, a beautifully floral, honeyed nose, and a fresh light zing on the palate that belies its underlying strength. You have not had a beer like this, and neither have we. You can enjoy it now, but it will also age very nicely. Like BAM and like Brooklyn, BAMBoozle is in a class of its own. Happy 150th to BAM, its colorful crown restored, the once and future king of the arts. *This beer, like the creative quality of the borough of Brooklyn, is very rare.

Drank this from a bottle. Pours a nice yellow color and very carbonated, light champagne. Smells are simple and to the point, malts, hope and some fresh citrus. Taste warm, and like a lager a steroids. Fresh grass, ginger and honey. Nice body and texture. Similar to a good double wit to me. I could drink this in place of champagne, with a salad, with pasta, or after a meal. Love it!

(750ml bottle) cloudy deep gold, long-lasting fine offwhite bubbled head. Nose of corn, alcohol, muscat grape, stone fruit and Belgian yeast. The corn aroma takes away from it. Taste of Belgian yeast, spices, alcohol, light honey, unsweetened stone fruit. Very carbonated and dry. Refreshing.

Associated Supermarket, Bushwick 750ml ($8): Pours hazy yellow orange color with a loose white head. Aroma is honey and yeast. Taste is slightly sweet. Tastes like a low alcohol Belgian ale, but it really isn’t. Body is really light. Honey taste throughout. Not very complex.

Hazy golden color with a huge off white head. Aroma is sweet, sugar, alcohol, some grassy notes, honey, farmy notes, red berries, banana, orange. Taste is sweet, slightly tart, hard to describe, goney, some grainy malts in there. Pretty solid!

Bottle. Yellow with a slight cloudiness. Medium head and a sweetness that hits you as you open the bottle. After opening a gentle bitterness appears.Pleasant but probably an acquired taste.

In short: An uber-sweeet blond kind-of-beer
How: Bottle 750ml, shared at post Tap-NY 2012 hotel tasting
The look: Cloudy yellow blond body topped by a medium white head with medium retention
In long: Nose is sweet with fruity esters. Taste very very sweet, sugary banana cake, honey, perfumy notes bordering shampoo sensation, bubblegum. Well carbonated. Ratebeer style says it is a mead but to me it tasted like an overly sweet Tripel with no hops. I didn’t like it. The last beer I rated during this Tap-NY after-party, then I stumbled to my hotel room and my wife told me I could not possibly be a more pathetic low-life drunk. I’m taking this as a challenge. Game on.

Bottle back at the hotel at TAPNY courtesy of Matt. Pours a lightly hazed gold with a medium sized white head. Soft wheat, toasty and warm. Light musk, warm alcohol. Long musk, toast. Musky and sweet on the finish, with more toasted wheat.

Hazy orange body, white head. Aroma has citrus fruits all over it. Some sweet maltiness and a werid spiciness. There is alcohol present in flavour, but somehow this feel a bit thin in mouth. How is it even possible?

Bottle. Golden yellow color. Sweet honey smell and taste. A little too sweet for me, but maybe cause meads are not my thing. Overall its still smooth and nice to drink
