linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA Mar 23, 2009 Updated: Mar 28, 2009It’s a chocolatey stout, just like they say. Right on on style, just not one I enjoy so it gets hit on the overall impression. Ingevara (516), Hindås, Sweden Mar 23, 2009 Tar black. Solid brown foamy head. Dense flavor of chocolate and coffee in an unholy union. Surprisingly shallow aroma despite its powerful appearance. Seems like a copmromise, but quite enjoyable anyway. Nightfall (645), Athens, Greece Mar 21, 2009 35,5 Bottle from Utobeer. Pitch black with a nice creamy brown head the quickly dissolves while lacing the side of he glass. Nice chocolate aroma with hints of vanilla and licorice. Roasted malt and lots of chocolate in the taste, vanilla and some roasted coffee beans. Very well balnced and a great aftertaste. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Mar 19, 2009 Bottle from goldtwins, thanks! Black with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates. Very pleasant aroma of dark and roasted malts, chocolate and a twinge of alcohol and coffee. Taste of chocolate, dark and roasted malts and mild alcohol. Body is full, smooth and finishes nice and roasty with some light warming effects. Good stuff. Adam77 (407), Eastampton, New Jersey, USA Mar 19, 2009 Absolutely love that they sell this in a 6 instead of 4. Poured milky black with creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. Lots of bitter chocolate flavor with a hint of coffee. I would to try this with some age of it. TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Mar 18, 2009 Bottle. A strong smell of dark chocolate, alcohol and molasses, quite sweet. The head is very small, brown and fizzy. The body is black. The taste is medium bitter, strong taste of dark chocolate. The body is heavy, creamy and like thick motor oily. Not much carbonation. A very nice beer. coldbrewky (716), Saugerties, New York, USA Mar 13, 2009 Draft last night with dinner at my local. Again, oh how I love revolving taps. A lucious rich creamy rolicking head sits upon the slick, full bodied, brownish black shimmering beer like a royals crown. Close to the beer nose slowy wafts of chocolate and touch of burnt toast. Body is big. Even a small sip fills the mouth with fullness of this brew. First touches to toung are all balanced yet intense chocolate and dark malts. Nearly chewy. Second half has hints of coffee and ripening stone fruit. Finish has a sweet velvety tones and lingers. A very nice Impy. Elwood (647), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Mar 12, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a thick, oily black with virtually no head. What little head that is there is a deep tan. Definite roasted malt, chocolate, and raisin notes on the nose. Medium carbonation with an oily mouthfeel to start, but it finishes a little dry. It has a certain vinous quality to it. Heavy coffee, dark malt, chocolate, and dark berry notes. Some alcohol on the palate, but for being 10%, the alcohol is well hidden. Solid and well rounded, I really like this imperial stout!
