Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle (33 cl). Black colour with a small dark foam. Smelled of chocolate and smoke. Had a dry taste of chocolate and a long aftertaste.

Another huge thanks to JoeMcPhee for this brew. Crushed with Jakebra and Michaelangelo. Chocolate, chocolate, roast, and chocolate, then hops. Outstanding imperial stout. Dark, thick, velvety, tasty, awesomey. Loved it.

Bottle. Black with a large brown head. The aroma is high alcohol and chocolate. Taste, warm from alcohol smooth chocolate, burnt malt, and dryed fruit. Had the beer in with with fullcream chocolate cake, excellent mix.

bottle, 06-07, sampled 1/21/07. Pours a dark, thick heavy black with about a half inch of dark tan head. Aromas of heavy dark bittersweet chocolate, roasted grain, some hints of dark fruit, and a hefty dose of alcohol heat. Flavor follows on the nose, with lots of dark and bitter chocolate, some over-roasted malt and espresso notes. Solid bitterness shows up on the back of the palate and blends with the alcohol heat. Palate is heavy and full with noticeable carbonation, showing some booze on the finish.

Pours stout black with very little rose tinted head. Rich aroma: burnished cocoa, warming alcohol, coffee, malts. Thick, creamy, enveloping texture...leaves dry, cocoa finish...some ground nut and a warm roastiness. one to come back to. indulgent.

By far one of my favorite beers. Had many a pint off the tap at the Local 44 in Philadelphia. When ordering we refer to it as "The Wrestler", because if you try to go more than three rounds with it you’re bound to lose. Gorgeous thick black color. Head so thick it looks like cheesecake. Ony flaw: pronouced, almost sickening alcohol flavor with the first sip; it’s gone by taste #2. At $4 a pint, easily worth double the price, and after two or three, you’re bound to think the jukebox is filled with solid gold jams. Gets the job done, and in style.

Color: Black as pitch. It’s actually opaque to all but extreme light. Gorgeous lacing. Aroma hits you over the head with chocolate, with a hint of spice I can’t describe. Anise? Creamy, but not overly thick in the mouth. The alcohol content is by no means hidden in that lingering aftertaste. This is quite good. Couldn’t drink it too often though!

On draft at multiple locations. My favourite beer. Rich, dark, chocolate, malty, deliciousness. A smidge "alcoholy sweet" on the finish, but understandable with it’s 10.6% ABV. Goes for approx $5 a pint- an incredible deal. Hoping next year’s version is just as good!
