Rich and thick, leaving a tingling sensation in the tongue. Quite bitter, with coffee heavy in the smell and taste. Dark Chocolate also obvious, with an above average sweetness for a beer. The alcohol warms the throat but not overly present in taste. Very nice, although leaves sticky lips which was a bit uncomfortable. Awesome.

12ozer. Many vintages. Pour is black as night with small foamy head. Aromas of chocolate(go figure), roasted malt, and a tinge of alcohol. As this one ages it develops into an easy drinking beer. Flavor is much the same as the aroma. One of my favorite IS out there today.

Bottle. Pours black with thick brown head. Aroma is chocolate with hints of espresso and smoke. Flavor is robust, with raw cocoa and some sweeter chocolate notes in the finish. Little it of an alcohol bite as it warms. Overall a very good stout.

The name says it all. Pours a deep deep black, little to no head. And the chocolate is big, but not too overwhelming and sweet. Solid and economical 6pck Imperial Stout.

Sampled during MN Gathering II and shared by MilkmanDan. From a 12-oz bottle (2003-04 vintage) pours an opaque dark brown brew with a creamy tan head that has some nice retention and spotty lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, floral hops, some toasted dark malt and some tobacco. Taste is medium bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of dark chocolate, some dark pitted fruits, tobacco, and some alcohol presence. Finish remains a light tobacco and dark chocolate aftertaste that slowly disappears. The alcohol warmth has a nice finish.

On tap. Pours deed black with thick creamy head. Aroma is of chocolate and some hops. Palate is very velvety. Alcohol is well hidden. definite dark chocolate flavor. Went well with creme brulee.

Pours jet black with a tan head that leaves nice lacing... Initial aroma is of soy sauce, followed by roasted malts with notes of bitter chocolate... Notes of dark fruits, a mild note of bitter chocolate, a bit of alcohol, and a subtle note of drying hops... I remember liking this much better in the past, but i’ve had so many great imperial stouts in the meantime... This is good, but not quite in the upper echelon anymore for me...
