Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle from Sam’s. Black black pour with a generous tan head when poured into a snifter. Bitter chocolate malts on the nose, but a surprising amount of fruit showing through as well and mild roasted nuts. Good balance of roasty and sweet, with just enough hop presence. Alcohol is a little hot. Slick and velvety palate. This was a recent vintage; would love to age this six months to a year or more and taste the difference... I bet it will mellow and mature nicely.

Pour is as black as they come. Aroma is of dark or even semi-sweet chocolate. Taste is heavily chocoalte and coffee. very hoppy finish for a stout and the alcohol contect can definitely sneak up on you. Overall a very good stout.

It is about time I had this beer. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and malt. For a 10.6% beer, the alcohol is well hidden. Really well done.

12oz bottle. Super dark brown with a small, oily tan head. Richly fruity, alcoholic, soy sauce and port indicative nose. I’ve smelled this before: triple bock. Just a hint of roast/chocolate aroma. The flavor is mostly fruity and alcoholic, slightly salty, and medium-sweet. Plum, berry, and light roast flavors. Finishes with subtle hops that balance well. Medium-full body, slightly syrupy, and a bit flat. While this is still drinkable, its definitely one of the most disappointing imperial stouts that I’ve had. Not much chocolate to speak of, oddly.

330 mL. Pours jet black with a small tan cap that fades to a thin layer leaving good lacework. Rich Aroma of dark fruits, roasted malt, chocolate malt, dark chocolate, faint alcohol. Taste is full of roasted malt and unsweetened dark chocolate but there is a spicy alcohol burn in the finish followed by a very bitter, long aftertaste. Overrated especially compared to Brooklyn Black Ops.

This is real-deal. The stuff pours with the consistency of paint, or so it seems. Taste is intense: notes of chocolate and coffee. A relatively rich head, though it dissolves quickly. It has a high alcohol content, and you notice this as you drink it: the taste belies its strength. Give this one a try.

Pour is a dark black with a large tan head. Aroma is roasted malt with a bit of chocolate and alcohol. Flavor is dark chocolate with some coffee and roasted nuts. Alcohol is not as big as in the aroma but you can detect it. A decent beer but its missing something.
