Oct 31, 2008 Wow this is dark! I bet if you put a flashlight up to it that it doesn’t even lighten up a bit. This has hints of chocolate in it along with the normal malt and stout scents. It’s flavor is that of unsweetened chocolate and malts. Nice aftertaste. This is one smooth stout! Great job Brooklyn Brewery!

Oct 31, 2008 Bottle pours opaque black with thin tan head. Aroma is sweet dark fruits and little alcohol. First taste is sweet roasted malt and some dark fruits then the bitterness comes in from the roasted malt. Alcohol is apparent throughout the whole tasting and the finish is biter dark chocolate.

Oct 30, 2008 Had this on tap at Mad Mex. Very nice for Imperial Stout, perhaps not as big in hops as Stormking but lots of oil and toffee and smoke plus enough hops.

Oct 28, 2008 Updated: Oct 15, 2009Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours pitch black with almost no head. Aroma of dark roast & chocolate, signs of citrus tang. Flavor is semi-sweet with bakers chocolate, dark roast. Med-heavy body with medium carbonation. Overall, it’s tasty.

Oct 27, 2008 Brewed in the USA !!! (KSBF) Pours a wonderful black color with a sm tan head. The aroma is of chocolate, and dark malts. Taste of dark chocolate, coffee, and malts. The mouthfeel is smooth and sweet !!!! There is some alcohol present but not overbearing. I was very impressed by this one............... :)

Oct 27, 2008 Bottled from winter 08-09. Pours black with a thick chocolate head that laces well. Aroma is licorice, slightly vanilla, caramel, chocolate, dark fruits, roast malt, and alcohol. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruits, sweet smokey malt, coffee and lots of alcohol. Finish is very phenolic and bittersweet chocolate. Palate is creamy. The alcohol is not masked well enough; it’s good and certainly warming but could be better.

Oct 27, 2008 bottle thanks to jjpm74. poured black with a thin brown head. aroma is chocolate, dark fruits. flavor went through stages that blended out nice. started with dark fruits, chocolate, dark roasts, and finished with some coffee. a good hop bitter also. the alcohol is masked well for the 10.6.
