Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Pours black with a huge fluffy tan head. Aroma of strong roasted malts. Sweet malts, chocolate and some coffee in the flavor. A little alcohol in the finish.

2 year old bottle. Dark black with a thin beige head. Vinous and roasty aroma. Lots of molasses and soy sauce in the taste, with dark fruits and chocolate. Some bitter coffee in the finish. A good brew, but I think I liked it more fresh. Age and learn.

Black, thick lasting head. Smells of raisins and chocolate. Great taste of bitter, black chocolate. Very good.

On tap at Red Light Red Light. REALLY Nice. Pours BLACK. This is like a chocolate, malty milkshake. Nice cherry hints. Definite coffee and nutty tastes. Nice and roasty. Wish I could drink this on a cold night...but we don’t have many of those here in Orlando.

Pours a dark black color with a small tan head. Strong chocolate taste with a mix of malts, and slight fruity taste. A typical stout in style, but freat tasting. Alcohol is masked by the strong chocolate flavor. Great for the this time of year. Will drink again.

12oz bottle: pours a deep black color with small light-brown head. Aroma is not as strong as I was expecting...light hints of alcohol and smokey cocoa. Initial taste of sweet fruit, black licorice and dark chocolate. Finishes warm with a raisin and alcohol taste. A dry, roasted malt sensation lingers. This is definitely full body but not excessively heavy. Enjoyable, but I was expecting to detect more chocolate aroma & flavor since thats what the label advertises. I’ll age the rest of these and try again next year.

I’m in the minority here. It is a well crafted beer, but you have to like the style to like the beer. That said, this beer delivers a rich taste that stays with the drinker. My favorite after dinner beer, but one is all I need. I fine beer to serve with desert with a good cigar.

Whoa, this is a big beer. Pours to an engine-oil colored dark brown/black with a thick, lasting tan head. On the nose you definitely get some chocolate, but it’s preceded by dark chocolate and hints of liqueur -- think chocolate covered cherries. On the palate this beer is big and syrupy, a serious winter offering. While it’s certainly malty to begin with, it finishes with smokey malt. An amazing, complex and exciting beer.
