Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

12 oz bottle, 2008 edition. pours black (no see-through here), thick (I think I noticed like chunks of goodness coming out during the pour), and the head is typical of imperial stouts. Most distinctive toasted/roasted malt flavor I have ever tasted. Maybe my favorite imperial stout.

Bottle. 33cl. Pours out a deep black with a small lacing tan head. It has a strong roasted malt aroma. Finishes with a nice chocolate bitterness. Alcohol notes which sharpens the taste.

Pours midnight black with ruby red light making it through only at the edges. Thick cappuccino-colored head that fades to leave persistent lacing. The aroma is of dark chocolate. The alcohol comes through in the aroma. There’s also a slight dark fruit, sherry like aroma on the nose. Fine dark chocolate comes through in the flavor, along with some expresso. Mouthfeel is very smooth and full of body

KSBF 08- Black pour with a tan foam head. Dark chocolate and cocoa aroma. Dark roast and full bodied of the style. Malt rich and sense the ABV. Some bitterness towards the finish. Great Stout but not a huge fan of the dark chocolate notes. Still a good drinker.

Thanks to lb4lb. Pours pure black with a small tan head. Tastes of bittersweet cocoa with roasted oats and coffee.

Tried thanks to Poperinge! What a beer, the inspiration for me to brew my own imperial stout....turned out well but not nearly as good as this! This is an awesome beer, massive chocolate and dark fruit goodness with a hint of smoke!

Bottle 2007. Pours a dark black with small light brown head. Aroma of bitter chocolate and coffee. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. Some alcohol present. Very nice.

pours quarter in dark tan head. Looks like interminable darkness. Aroma is full of toasty oats and chocolate with undertones of coffee. Flavor is robust and full off chocolate and roasty toasty oats and coffee. magnificent
