Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle, winter 04-05. Black w/ small brown head. Nose is dried fruits, prunes & port. Burned and syrupy malty flavor, port vine and a lingering roasted coffee finish. Quite intense. Full bodied and smooth palate. Nice impy, but not mind blowing.

Very sweet aroma, lots of sugars. Not any strong chocolate flavor that I’m getting. Flavor is sweet and not real thick. Some light hops in the finish. Pretty good.

Pours pitch black with a big two-finger tan head that shows good retention and lacing. It’s a very good looking brew. The smell is pretty tame on this one with sweet roasted malts and chocolate dominating. There is also a definite licorice aroma there as well Taste is mainly the big chocolately goodness with a hint of coffee and dark fruits. The roasted malts are in there as well and a faint hop bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with solid carbonation. This is a very good chocolate stout which doesn’t let the cocoa overpower the rest of the brew. Very nice.

Pours impenetreble black with 1 finger tan head. Nose of licorice, espresso, bitter chocolate, and berrys. Powerful and defined. Flavor was robust and hard hitting. Huge malt character with bitter chocolate and caramle notes evident throughout. Lingers nicely on the tounge. Palate is rich and creamy- very fufilling. Not too much bad to say about this one really.

12 oz bottle in snifter. Pours pitch black with a slowly dissipating chocolate brown head. Strong aroma of dark chocolate dried fruits, raisin sweet toasted malts, cherry, toffee. Intense myriad of flavors bombarding the palate including nut, chocolate, and fruity undertones that are hard to pinpoint. Initial dry sparkling feeling followed by a blossoming of flavor as it warms then a long smooth warming finish.

Great chocolate stout that will satisfy any craving. Thick rich malty flavor with a hint of caramel and chocolate. Great desert beer and good way to finish the night.

12oz bottle ’06-’07(courtesy of mreusch)-A pitch black body with a nice full tan head which dissipated into a small covering. Aroma of chocolate, sweetness, roasted malt, and more chocolate. Taste of the same with some coffee and a bit of alcohol on the back end. A great tasting stout.

Bottle. My favorite local releases of the 2007-8 winter. Pours a black body with a tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, chocolate, and roasted malts. Flavor is just that with a moderate etoh warming. Just about the best 6 pack you can buy locally, I love this one.
