Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle. Black pour with thick, foamy, mocha head. Aromas of toast, EtOH, leather, and, oddly, bananas. Tastes winey, with heavy EtOH appropriate for the style. Caramel + toast = Cracker Jacks!! Also coffee and chocolate. Not as sweet as I thought it would be, which is fine. Finishes with balanced, back-of-the-tongue hops that diminish rather quickly.

Bottle. Pours dark black with a tan head. Chocolate, and coffee dominate the smooth flavors that finishes dry.

Trade from Tertons. Thanks! Pours a dark black color with thick brown head that fades quickly. Aroma is all alcohol upfront. What a mess! The alcohol overpowers everything with just bits of pepper, light chocolate, and charred malt. Taste is much the same with a bit of yeast and basement funk. Seriously, what a mess of a beer. Brash, one sided, and just a letdown.

The aroma is very toasted with chocolate, coffee, and molasses. The appearance is dark brown with a tan head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thick. Overall it’s neat and good.

Black with frothy tan head that dissipates, leaving only a ring. Chocolate/caramel, coffee, dark fruit, with wood, vanilla and faint banana. The typical chocolate/coffee taste of an imp stout is quickly interrupted by a blast of uncooth/synthetic vanilla and alcohol.

deep dark black stout with a toasty brown thin foam head.. rich burnt chocolate/coffee flavoring with a bittersweet toffee lingering on the tongue.. minimal lacing but very easy on the palate for a beer with a 10.6% alc content
