New tasting, 08-09 bottle, February 09: Pours a black color with a nice brown head leaving some lacing. Nice aroma of dark chocolate, toffee, roasted malts, coffee. Flavour of dark chocolate, roasted malt, lightly of coffee and toffee. Pretty big bitterness with light notes of citrusy hops. Overall very dry, with note that much sweetness (which I almost thougt it would be). Mouthfeel is full, carbonation is soft and overall this is a filling beer. Great, flavourful, priceworthy imperial stout but there’s even better imperials out there (but the they are of course more expensive).

Old tasting: 07-08 bottle, March 08: Love this one. Not the best Imperial Stout out there (not far from though), but if I feel a strong attraction for chocolate, this one is perfect. Coffee is also noticable. A powerful beer, but also extremely balanced with a fantastic palate; very creamy, thick and full-bodied. The finish is bitter and very pleasant. (9/5/9/5/18=4,6)

Bottle, courtesy of my favorite beer swilling, firefighting, politicking lawyer wannabe, cdumler. Thank you Chris! Upon opening the bottle I notice a banana estery aroma, which is most unexpected. Pours dark reddish brown with a very small and very brown head that does not last. Nice roasty, coffee and chocolate aroma. A little more of a bite than I expected, but a deep, rich chocolate taste really comes through. This is thick, and kind of coats the tongue. Very nice.

Pours black with brown head. Chocolate and alcohol on the nose. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. Ends with a bittersweet chocolate flavor. Taste lingers for a while. Nice stout.

Delicious chocolate aroma with underlying coffee and roasted malt aromas. Pours a dark black with a small tan head. Delicious sweet chocolaty taste at first that lasts throughout with minor notes of coffee and roasted malts. Very smooth combination of flavors. This is the chocolatiest beer I’ve ever had!! Fantastic.

07/08 bottle from ucusty... viscous impenetrable dark brown pour with a creamy brown head and light drippy lacing. sweet malty aroma with cocoa and dark dried fruit. sweet palate (not obscene though) with flavors of chocolate cream (big time), roastiness, dry astringency, sourness late and alcohol as it warms. light bitter finish with ashiness lingering in the aftertaste. medium body with a nice soft texture...

Pours pitch black with a dark tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roast, and alcohol. Strong chocolate flavores descend into cofee and finish with a big bitter finish. Pretty thick mouthfeel.Has a bit more chocolate charecter than your typical Imperial stount, but not tons. A big and very good beer.

On tap at Hopcat. The aromas were on the sweet side with chocolate and coffee. It had nice richness and balance in the mouth but just didn’t stand up to the KBS & Expedition drank today.

12 oz. bottle shared with Matt7215, RyanMac13. Pours the beautiful, full dark brown viscous liquid I was hoping for. Nice! Aroma: A little subdued actually, not much hint of what is to come. Flavour: MASSIVE sweetness, crazy chocolate, but also big anise, plum and soy souce come through. Not really subtle AT ALL! Big and assertive, I like it. Great thick mouth-feel. Glad I could have a chance to try this one, although it’s not really my favourite Imperial Stout I’ve tried so far. Still great stuff though.
