Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

On tap at Hopcat. The aromas were on the sweet side with chocolate and coffee. It had nice richness and balance in the mouth but just didn’t stand up to the KBS & Expedition drank today.

12 oz. bottle shared with Matt7215, RyanMac13. Pours the beautiful, full dark brown viscous liquid I was hoping for. Nice! Aroma: A little subdued actually, not much hint of what is to come. Flavour: MASSIVE sweetness, crazy chocolate, but also big anise, plum and soy souce come through. Not really subtle AT ALL! Big and assertive, I like it. Great thick mouth-feel. Glad I could have a chance to try this one, although it’s not really my favourite Imperial Stout I’ve tried so far. Still great stuff though.

Bottle. well here it is, #100. and what a great beer to mark the occassion. pours black with almost no head. smells sweet and alcohol. tastes are chocolate, bitter, vanilla flavored coffee. Alcohol seeps through each tasting but not enough to be bothersome.

Pours a very nice consistent black color. A definate mix of chocolate with coffee in the smell. Pretty sweet for a stout, wasnt expecting it to be that blunt. A great aftertaste that makes you want more.

12 oz. bottle, pours a dark brown opaque color with a minimal dark brown head. Aroma is of chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. and kind of sweet. The taste is somewhat overpowering at first and is both bitter and sweet. Dry, crispy feel that fills your mouth. Palate is smooth despite the high alcohol content. Very good beer.

Bottle. Pours black, big tan head. Nose of alcohol, dark fruits, chocolate. Big dark fruity character, cough syrupy, with dark chocolate undertones. As it warmed, dark fruits recede, syrup disappears, roasted malt and chocolate comes to fore. Slightly bitter finish. Greatly improved as it climbed into room temperature. Also worth noting that this beer changed significantly over the last two or three months -- another bottle from the same sixer three months ago was significantly hotter and more sough-syrup like.

Bottled. Pours ink black with no highlights...completely opaque. Brown film and ring sitting on top. Aroma of sweet chocolate. Sharp, almost sour flavour combined with alcohol and roasted coffee. Good but not one of my favourite impy stouts.

I can’t asy enough about this stout. It’s one of my favorites. I can’t hold on to it long enough to age a bottle or two. Big chocolately notes. Nice malty body to balance the sweetness. Thick and velvety body. I love this stout!
