Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Tasted with 5 other Imperial Stouts. Pours black with creamy light brown head. The aroma is sweet caramel and some chocolate. The taste has definate notes of Alcohol along with the sweetness. Not much bitterness. Definately the sweetest stout of the night.

For me, I get most of my imperial stout impressions from the aftertaste. I Have to sit there for a while and think about the complexities as they develop. This one, however, brings a smile to my face immediately. Such a huge burst of chocolate goodness. Sweet as candy. I’m tempted to heat it up and compare it to hot chocolate. Very drinkable and I had to double check the ABV because I couldn’t believe it. Must have meant 10% chocolate syrup.

I enjoy this beer from a sippers point. The hoppiness is almost too intense. The initial chocolate overtones are very attractive, but those become quickly overrun by the heavy hop linger.

Bottle. Pours thick black with small tanish head. Excellent initial flavor. Followed with an almost candy finish. I will be drinking this again.

bottle poured into a snifter has a wonderful one finger tan frothy head, slow carbination, and a black thick looking body. aroma has chocolate, malts, coffee roast, light alcohol, and some spice. mouth feel is medium thick, heavy dose of assorted malt, light roast, dark chocolate, and finishes thick with light bitterness. really a great brew, roasted malt just at the right level, and it hides the 10.6% perfectly. much better than i ever expected.

Ah what a fantastic imperial stout. Pours dark black with a great aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. Head is creamy and lasting and brown. High alcohol content but highly drinkable. Fantastic i hope i can get some more this season but i doubt it.

Bottle. Dark, black color, brown edges and small, brown head. Aroma is very malty, roasty with alcohol and hints of coffee. Touch of soy sauce aroma. Flavor is spicy and malty with chocolate nad coffee, touches of anise, oak and vanilla.
