Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

It’s a shame I didn’t buy two cases when I could. This is the sneakiest 10% brew I ever had.

This stuff makes me happy. And at first, I suffered from getting a bad impression because I couldn’t consume anything else after my first bottle of this.Ths high volume of alcohol in it messed me up big time, but I’ve since come to love this thick, black, and gooey beer substance. Such much so, I said the heck with it and bought a case, and intead on aging it a bit, unless I end up drinking it all first.

Aroma is molasses-like and slightly charred. Deep and dark in the glass, with a slight head. Flavor starts sweet, then moves into chocolate, then toasted dark bread, before finishing with a hoppy snap. Palate is dense and silky. A wonderful dessert beer, especially served with a scoop of ice cream, a la The Chocolate Room in Park Slope.

12oz bottle. Rich dark pour, perfect head and tons of lacing. A very beautiful beer. Aroma is licorice with some cream notes; sharp alcohol. Slight roasted chocolate flavor, faint sour apple, licorice. Smooth, charitable. Expected more, though.

pours a dark blackish brown with a frothy brown head. nose is roasty malty with some sweetness, chocolate, a touch of molasses, some metallic character, a little alcohol, port, and a smidge of dates. complex! taste is roasty, quite a bit of toffee, burnt caramels, roasted nuttiness, a little chocolate, a little coffee, cereal/grainy notes & some pine. yum. mouthfeel is frothy, a bit chewy. average carbonation for an IS. finish leaves you with a taste similar to ’honey smacks’ cereal (remember, with the little frog in their ads). alcohol isn’t overpowering, but it is there, especially on the finish. not too sweet, as i have noticed in other renditions of the style. full, thick body with an oily texture. highly drinkable for an IS also, in fact it makes me want another! beautifully balanced. very, very tasty. definately try it if you see it!

I LOVED THIS ONE. STRONG ALCOHOL CONTENT. STRONG TASTE OF CHOCALATE. IT HAS A DARK RICH COLOR. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE TO THIS ONE IS ITS ONLY AVAILABLE AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME.
