Commercial Description:
This is the famous Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, our award-winning rendition of the Imperial Stout style once made exclusively for Catherine the Great. We use three mashes to brew each batch of this beer, achieving a luscious deep dark chocolate flavor through a blend of specialty roasted malts. We brew it every year for the winter season. It is delicious when newly bottled, but also ages beautifully for years.

Bottle. Pours syrupy black with thin tan head. Aroma is chocolaty (but not nearly as chocolately as stouts that actually use chocolate), roasted, and alcohol is detectable. The flavor is rich and well balanced, sweet chocolate, coffee, and perfect bitterness. Very full bodied and smooth. My only complaint is that the alcohol is far too prevalent at the end. A very good beer, but there are much better imperial stouts out there.

Pours a dark brown/ Black color with a thick creamy tan head. Aromas of chocolate and roasted malts and a little bit of alcohol. Nice thick and chewy chocolate taste that turns to roasted/burnt malt flavor. Slight bitterness on the end as well. Not bad! Thanks Ubamartian!

After having this baby at GABF I was a bit disappointed. Joebrew however provided an aged bottle out of his cellar that blew me away. Excellent chocolate aroma and flavor with hints of coffee. Smooth creamy body. Absolutely delicious.

Pours a dark brown with decent sized head, nice looking. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malts. Nice sweetness, enough bitterness to be noticed. Very nice, I can’t wait until this beer is sold in Minnesota.

Lots of character and subtlety are buried in this brew. The alcohol presence is a bit harsh but not enough to stop me from enjoying this one.

Black with brown creamy head. Sweet aroma with burned malt and chocolate. Flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, burned malt, vanilla and liquerice. Acohol well hidden. Lovely!

12 . bottle courtesy/shared with Naka. Pours dark black w/ thin brown head. Nose of saurkarut and fruit, apple vinegar and plum, cherry, grape. Fruity taste w/ roast and alcohol, plum and raisin, some apple, roasted barley w/ decent malt. A little sour ending w/ some warmth. Pretty decent. Very complex.

**Sourkraut nose goes away as it breaths and warms. The fruit is amplified.

12 oz shared with dpjuart. Dark black pour with a small tan head. Nose of alcohol, and some malty fruit with a hint of sourness that faded over time. The taste is a bit sweet with very apparent alcohol. There isn’t really a whole lot of noticeable chocolate... more of a caramel malt and coffee flavor. Finishes with a deep roasted flavor of burnt oak and a bit of a carbonic bite.
